some traffic lights dont register my existence day or night how does one cope with this tired of wingn it is it because the red lights like my red bud
or is it the ossication overthruster?

I totally hear you! Most of lights in our neighbour hood we have to sit at after 7 pm when they go to trigger mode, and then we just end up running them becuase they won't trigger at all.

It's a pain, and I don't like running lights, but you have no choice.

'A lot' is a two word deal. Grammar can be a pretty decent intelligence meter.

my writing abillity is not a measure of my intellegence i'm glad to know that their are so many snobs in every culture kinda humbleing to know that all scootest are not cool.. refer to stop light bulletin 2 catch my drift

i do one of 2 things:

1. if possible, find a different route
2. if not possible, wait until there are no car and just go unless there's a camera at the intersection, chances are i'm not going to get a ticket.

Anyway (if you didn't click the links), it's because there's not enough metal on the scooter for the sensor to pick up, so it doesn't change. Sometimes, you can see where the wire is underneath the cement, and it's usually in a square that sits acroos each lane, from what I can tell. You might be better off stopping near the side of the lane you're in.

If that doesn't work, a lot of states have a law that says how long you have to wait before proceeding through a red light if it won't change for you. I think in WI it's something like 120 seconds or two cycles of the light. Check your state laws to see if there's anything like that.

Before that law passed, I got to know the lights that wouldn't change for me on my motorcycle. I would just turn right and do a U-turn so I could go straight without running a light. Left turns sucked at those spots.

I've read two sources lately that said even a bicycle should trip those sensors, and definitely any scooter or motorcycle, and if they're not tripping, they're probably just not adjusted properly, and your local DOT would probably prefer to come out and adjust them then have you running them.

In any case, notifying your DOT with a phone call and a letter (keep a copy), especially for lights you frequent, is a very smart idea because if you do ever get ticketed for running them or u-turning on the cross-street, you'll have some ammo to fight the charge.

As I see it, it's not your responsibility to make those things work, they should be designed to work with any motor vehicle. And the jury's still out on a lot of the workaround gizmos anyway, some don't work, some are illegal, some are ridiculously expensive, why not place the burden on your local government instead of spending money and time on something you shouldn't have to worry about?

What about carbon fiber frames?

I just had this discussion with my dad. Apparently, his bike won't trip the sensors...what he gets for trying to make it lighter. Too much aluminum and carbon fiber, no steel.

My old rig (bicycle) had steel rims: that was all it took to trip the sensor. Mind you, the trick to it was stopping DIRECTLY ON the wire, riding to the light on as much of the wire as I possibly could. Proximity is the key.
