... named my scooter today. Perla la Cochinita ("Pearl the Piglet"), or Perlita for short. I teach 4th grade bilingual. They are totally enamored with my scooter.
I'm trying to set a really good example about wearing full gear (well, helmet, jacket, gloves, I don't have riding pants yet) every time I get on it. My kiddos live in the ghetto/barrio and I was horrified by how many of them told me that their older siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins think helmets are stupid, and by how many of them had ridden around on the back of their relatives' motorcycles in shorts, no helmet.
