You need a Yahoo account for that. Can't bring myself to sign up for one.

What's up with a limited edition color for more money? What's next, the L.L. Bean Edition?

i love it. but not gonna lose the difference of a new scoot, plus the increase in cost. :(

i really wish they were importing it as a normal color, then i might spring for the parts to convert mine from orange to green. maybe i'll see if i can do this anyway.

Maybe to complete the retro-70's image the rubber mat could be replaced with some nice green shag carpet??

Ah, but—look!—tubeless whitewalls for the Bud!

Here are the details from Phil from Pride of Cleveland, who runs the Yahoo! group:
The bike is called the Series Italia.

Projected price is $2699

Taking orders in January, only 150 will be imported.

Would dealers have a way of finding out exactly what tire that is?

Mom, age 83, will want one. It'll match the stove and refrigerator.

Actually the whitewalls are tube type.

Im really digging the two tone vintage green with the whitewalls. Personally I would like to see it as a regular model. The extra $200 is definately worth it since it would cost more to have a shop put whitewalls on a standard Buddy.

All the trouble to go to whitewalls and they use the same tread design on tube tires? Geez.

When the stock tires wear out, I'm thinking Michelin S83s.

The picture looks to be photoshopped. The tires in the picture are the stock Buddy tires, but with whitewalls added. I have heard that the Series Italia will use Shinko whitewalls. According to the folks at Motorsport Scooters, they are nice tires.

Damn, I got duped by the tread pattern too.

I didnt realize you painted the front shocks in your first pics - very nice!

I must agree, I like dsleedesign's better.

I don't like the two tone green or the whitewalls on the limited edition, and I like the black interior better as well.

Actually, my mom's avocado appliances are from the space age. She got them back in the late 1960's when the Apollo program was going great guns. Dad and I drank about a gallon of milk polishing off a big bag of Oreos while watching Neil Armstrong walk on the Moon the very first time anyone ever did.

Yeah, I'm old.

I watched it on TV with my Dad too, one week after my 6th birthday. Then I had the poster of it on my bedroom wall for many years.

(lame attempt to make this vaguely relevent follows...)

I've read that many of those test pilots and astronauts were lunatic motorcycle riders here on earth. Good way to blow off steam from the high pressure gig they had.

Now you're just being mean. It was the week of my 17th birthday, and I got my 2nd oak leaf cluster of that one three years back.

I know that dealers have placed their orders for them and that a limited amount will go to those dealerships. May want to call your local dealer to see if they're getting any.

They won't be hitting the dealerships until around April. Also, the production Series Italia will have a larger headlight than the current Buddy's. Other than that, they pretty much look like the concept photo.

Seth told me Metro Scooter in Cincinnati ordered "a bunch of them". I didn't ask when they'd be in, since it's just interest in a cool idea for me rather than realistic acquisition prospects. I am considering some minor paint work on my orange Buddy. We'll see.
