Modern Buddy

My new Buddy has a squeak. When I push it out to get started, either forward or back but mostly back, I hear a squeak from the rear. I don't hear it when I'm riding. I called the dealer and they said to unadjust the rear brake but I don't know how. Any suggestions?

I think that squeak is fairly common. Ericalm has also reported some squeaking, and I hear from time to time while pushing the scoot, too. It's probably nothing to worry about.

Regarding adjusting the rear brake, there is a nut on the rear drum (follow the cable) that you can tighten or loosen as needed. In this case, however, it's probably not needed.

You might also want to download a copy of the service manul for future reference.

According to my dealer, this squeak can be caused by dirt or dust getting into the brakes. It's not a big deal but is something to have them check out at the first maintenance.

Adjusting the rear brake? Easily done, but I doubt that will have an effect. If the tension in the rear brake lever seems fine (not too tight or loose) and there doesn't seem to be any rubbing or undue resistance back there, it's probably fine. This probably wouldn't cause a squeak...

Do you hear it at all while braking? How about just pushig it a but then hitting the brake?
