Modern Buddy

So this issue has become especially important in the past couple months. I like to brew coffee in the morning and drink it at stoplights on my way to work. Right now, I have a Thermos mug that I bought from Target. It fits pretty well in the glove box but coffee has a tendency to leak out and bounce onto my shoes when hitting a bump. I also don't like that the lid doesn't screw in because a couple of times I've picked it up by just the lid and the rest of the cup dropped straight to the ground.

So my question is, has anyone figured out the perfect insulated mug that:

1. Fits well in the glovebox
2. Doesn't leak during a ride
3. Is easy to take a quick sip of at a stoplight (doesn't require some long armed unscrewing action)
4. Keeps the coffee nice and warm

Nice. I'm surprised at what you can get into that glove box. I went to a fast food restaurant a few weeks ago and I really didn't feel like taking the cage. So I just stuffed the drink in the glove box. There was some minor spilling, but it worked pretty good in the end.

This OXO mug seems to be a pretty good choice.

I don't think that any mug fits perfectly into the cupholder part of the glovebox- it's just too odd of a shape. I found a fairly cheap mug at Target that seals and works well.

Could always keep a towel in the underseat compartment and when you have a cup or mug you need to carry when riding, just wrap it around and cram it into the glove compartment. If the towel is fat enough it should be held on tight by the walls of the glove compartment.

Or get a chunk of foam rubber that you stuff into the glove box and cut a coffee cup sized hole out of.

As for the thermos itself - while I don't have any of them, http://www.sweetmarias.com/prod.travelm ... tles.shtml looks like it has some interesting ones. Particularly the Nissan Leak-Proof BackPack Bottle. I think it's just press the button and it pops open. To close, just push the thing closed.

A couple other "coffee on the go" ideas have been posted here in the past. One member has been making a neat little insert for the glove box that divides it into sections. Custom made so the colors even match or compliment. Also there is a suction cup holder that appears to hang on well and a number of folks seem to like. This one is available through a couple of the on-line scooter accessory suppliers.

OXO. Without a doubt. The mug mentioned earlier fits pretty well and never flew out.

I found mine at target for about $10. I'm drinking coffee out of it right now.

I don't know if something like this will work for you or not. I've used these in boats and they do a nice job, even in choppy water of holding drinks without spilling anything. I think they would be mountable on a scoot and the nice thing is they are removable.

About $15 from Cabelas ... but you can get similar holders at most any marine store.

The problem with these (and the similar holder that was referenced above and sold as a scooter-specific holder) is that the Buddy's interior panels are rough and suction cups don't stick so well to them.

Ah ... I hadn't considered that. I suppose, if you don't mind the velcro attachment, you could that that way as well. Not so bad if you had black velcro on a black scoot, but would likely look a little tacky on others.
