i've been scouring forums for a cup holder solution for awhile now... and looks like people have various approaches to it (i.e., bottle cage bolted/screwed down, neoprene wine totes, crafting their own glovebox organizer to include a beverage holder, some sort of holder using suction cups, etc.).

none of the solutions requiring any drilling or bolting things down worked for me because i'm fickle and i don't want a hole in my buddy ifi decide i don't want a cup holder there. after browsing through this forum and urbanscootin.com, i decided to go with the cup holder under the seat. this way, i can move it to my left or right side, closer to my leg or farther away from it. a potential problem over time could be that it makes the seat's seal a little looser, but the plastic part is very flat; so far i don't see any issues. once the seat is down, the thing is not going anywhere.

i purchased it from wal-mart. $1.99 for four of these... which you could use actually all at the same time. it can hold small or large drinks!

How snugly does it hold the drink?
Recommended for slower speeds only, or might handle higher speeds?
And the ultimate question: how does it stand up to potholes?

it's a snug fit between the cup holder and the seat, and the cup holder and the drink.

it has toughed through san francisco potholes/bumpy roads and has stayed very snug. i've only gone up to about 55 mph with it though, so i'm not sure how it'll do the freeway. works great for the city!

you can't really see it in my pictures, but the little plastic prongs that point inwards holds cups snugly.

Looks cool! I just throw my drinks in the front storage part... I guess its not so good to put the fast-food, pop-off lid kinds there though. I usually just carry vitamin water or gatorade, with the twist lids, so it doesn't matter what I do with them. Nice find!

I had the Prima suction cup type on my Vespa. The fourth time it fell apart dumping a Venti Frap onto my feet, I threw it out Yours looks like a much better solution.

Yeah, all the suction cup ones go bad eventually. I had a floorboard full of mango smoothie.

oh man... yeah, that seems to be the story on those cup holders. i didn't want to lose my drink AND a cup holder i paid for.

Best idea ever! I just ran home for lunch and managed to dump half my Burger King soda on my feet. Duh. (First time with a fast food drink in the front thing, oops.)

this will work much better than my current system of putting a napkin over the coffee cup, and then securing the plastic lid over that, and resting it in the glove box.

Starbucks now has little plastic plugs that go in the mouth of their to-go lids. I keep several in my scoot or jacket pocket; they fit more lids and really come in handy.

Of course, it doesn't help when I try to balance the cup on my floorboard while fiddling in the pet carrier, upset the coffee, knock the lid off, and wind up with latté all over. Meh. Clumsy me.

i put bottles in the glove box, but other drinks go in the holder. haven't tried anything from starbucks yet, just drinks with lids and straws.

My OXO coffee mug slings nicely in the glove tray. The only time I've ever spilled any was when I forgot to push the button back in to seal it. I also use the same mug on the Blur in my tank bag.

Background: I usually go through coffee mugs every 3 months or so because they fall apart or start leaking really badly. I've been using this mug for about 8 months - yes folks, that's a record: I use the hell out of coffee mugs. I'll turn around and go back home if I realize that I've forgotten my mug.

I found it at Target on clearance. Target is retarded with their clearance: they'll put something on clearance, sell out their inventory, then RESTOCK THE SAME THING at normal price.

Also, I'm not a gentle rider and I live in a city that thinks that potholes are historically preserved artifacts. I've not once lost my precious OXO mug. Take that for what you will. I will say that it is too slender to work with the $1.99 holder that bounce found. Frankly, that's pure genius finding such a simple and cheap solution that works universally.

If you regularly carry paper/plastic cups, bounce's solution is perfect. If all you drink is coffee, check out the OXO mugs. I love being a simple man

yeah there are definitely all sorts of cup holder solutions out there, and urbanscootin's forum covers it pretty extensively overall. i think your solution def works best for ppl who bring coffee from home (or wherever it can be carried in a mug).

i'll try something slimmer (like those crystal geyser water bottles!) and starbucks... and let you guys know

I also have the Prima suction cup one and it has rode the test of time, but the suction cups are finally giving way and I am in need of another solution...

yeah i think before i found this, the prima cup was my top choice. i was going to suction it inside the glove compartment.

the good thing about this is, when it does spill, it won't be on you, but on the side of your scoot (and usually not a lot since most of it hits the floor). and the side is also a lot easier to clean than the floorboard.

i tried a coffee cup; it was about 3/4 full and didn't spill from the top, surprisingly.

i'm obsessed with the thing!

it didn't fit my little v8 can very well, but you can wrap a towel around slimmer bottles/cans and that should work.

I was at Target yesterday and identified a number of things that could be modified into scooter cup holders. As I've mentioned numerous times in other threads, I use a slightly-modified neoprene wine bottle carrier. But I also saw a number of accessories for bicycles, running, and outdoors (camping/hiking) that could be made to work with the addition of a simple strap, elastic, whatever.

Great idea...simple and cheap.

Forked over $1.96 to the local Walmart... they even come in Buddy Italia seat gray!
