Ok, since people have been asking, I'm creating a thread for performance parts for the Buddy. submit other parts and I'll update the list(Note: This is not my full list. I'll add more to it shortly):

Just out of curiosity, are these confirmed because people with BuBus in Asia have installed them? I don't think anyone here has, but if they have, I'd be curious to know how the parts are working out.

Have you been haunting the Taiwanese forums? :)

And, just an aside to everyone: The surest way to shorten the lifespan of your scooter (without crashing it) is to install these kinds of mods. That's not to say I'm anti-modification—my Vespa has a cylinder kit, MultiVar and performance exhaust—but you'll be sacrificing a lot in reliability in exchange for performance. Also, like celebs and plastic surgery, once you start you hop onto an escalator if adding more and more to get the most out of whatever you just installed.

My point is, be sure you know what you're getting into and the possible outcome. I've already heard several stories of trashed engines due to installation of questionable Taiwanese performance parts and riding the scooter faster than it's built for longer than it should be run. If that happens to you, your warranty isn't going to cover it.

On the other hand, if you love to tinker, want the fastest Buddy out there, and have another scooter as backup ( :twisted: ), do what you will.

Heh, I've been haunting Taiwanese forums(With the help of Google translator) and talking to anyone and everyone with a Bubu, PGO Metro, or Modenas Ceria(All the Buddy incase you didn't know that)
As well as other PGO bikes with compatible parts. I've made several contacts in Taiwan that have been helping me source parts for my bike.

I'm inches from having a viable big-bore kit for the 125cc bikes, and the 150cc's can already be kitted.


I agree that modifications are a slippery slope, but its one I'm more than willing to travel :)

**EDIT AFTER RE-READING YOUR POST:

I confirmed the GY6 intake and the Mikuni 24mm carb myself by visual inspection and measurment when I was tearing down a friend's GY6-based China bike.

The Akunar pistion for the 150cc's was confirmed by Akunar to fit the 150 Bubu, and G-Max(Blur)

The other items on that list are confirmed installed by various people on Taiwanese bike forums on either the Bubu or the G-Max.

I'll add a little to this as well. (for 125 and 150)
Dr Pulley Variator: 181401
Dr Pulley slider weights: 18x14

For Koso, NCY and Prodigy etc Clutches and Variators:
Variators that are 115mm in size
Clutch Bells are 120mm (and the clutches that fit to this size bell/drum)

GY6 Camshafts - always verify size, there's some odd balls out there.
Bearing distance (outside to outside) is 58mm
Lifts
A8:??
A9: 26.84mm ex:26.93mm
A10:??
A11:??
A12:in:26.9mm ex:27.21mm

Belts: the 125 and the 150 use two different sized belts. A belt that fits a 125 will not fit the 150, just an FYI.

NCY Big Disk Brake kits DO NOT come with bolts. If you get these, make sure that you install grade 10 flanged bolts. I can't confirm the size, but on the Blur the needed bolt is M10x1.25x25mm. These are actually hard to find locally.

I don't know the intake valve size off hand, but I have seen that aftermarket "Big Valve" heads tend to come with 27mm intake valves. So a 30mm carb might be excessive. Then again, finding an intake that's machined and matched to the valve size isn't really possible, so go nuts with the carb.

Now, my own aside. Don't mod your Buddy if you're not willing to buy a new one. Even proven parts can fail, and I guarantee you that it won't be covered by warranty. You can and will trash your motor if you mess up when you start getting into the heavier stuff. Do your research ahead of time, figure out what works.... and still be ready to buy a new one. It's a risk.

However... if you do it right, keep the engine running with the proper air fuel ratio, use high quality lubricants, install a temperature gauge and monitor it, keep a tab on the fuel mixture by reading your plug and generally take precautions... the longevity of the bike shouldn't be shortened. If you do it right, the potential for the bike increases in that it works less to achieve the same momentum as it did before. In my mind that extends the life of the scooter.

great list of compatible parts good to have info if i need it thanks what about air filters and valve cover gaskets? I called scooter works a few times but no info yet. any ideas?

Thanks for this great list! Now if I can just figure out what all of this stuff is. I have a lot to learn, so I will be asking many questions as I begin mods on my 125.

Ohh, I've not seen that kit before, but I'll add it to the list!

Vento 150's are GY6's. The parts work fine.

You find someone in Taiwan who speaks decent english, and is willing to ship?

Autotech355 (Carlos) on eBay is a good place to get most things.

The idea behind a cold air intake really will not work on the Buddy, and really only has minimal effects on a car.

The body of the Buddy would only allow you to get about 8 inches of intake pipe max before you are sticking out the side of the bike, the air 8 inches from the motor is not going to be noticably cooler than the air right at the carburetor.

so the A8 cam went rite in with no mods

even though buddy 125 uses a 32 tooth cam sprocket while all the others use a 34 tooth you didnt have to press on and off the original sprocket ?

all performance cams i have found for sale were 34 tooth

buddy 125 16/32

buddy 150 17/34

all GY6 17/32

No, the cam I purchased was 32 tooth.
There are actually 4 different variants of GY6 motors(Actually arguably 5, but I won't get into that)

The cams for the 152QMI and 157QMJ are the ones that fit if I remember right.

I seem to remember mine was for the 152QMI.

The 125cc motor is actually a hybrid between the 152QMI and 157QMJ,
so it can be tricky figuring out which part you want.

i have tried several places no ones knows what i am talking about with the 32 tooth sprocket , all anyone has is 34 tooth

it is pretty easy to press off the stock gear and put it on any performance cam you want ,not to mention you can index the cam where you want it this way

Ohh, I hadn't thought of indexing like that. I installed mine a couple of teeth off, to where its about 3 degrees advanced, but it was hard to get it at exactly 3 degrees. I confess I didn't really think about just moving the sprocket :)

I'd like to add UNI filter (42mm I believe, of course they are a bit adjustable) to the list. It should be mentioned that some minor modification to the stock intake snorkel and proper jetting are needed. Oh, and the contra spring I used was NCY 1000RPM.
