Is it traditional to celebrate mileage milestones?

I hit 100miles yesterday. Got home and the odometer said 101 and some change.

It'll probably take me a while to get more miles on it, I homeschool, and I babysit a neighbor's daughter, plus I just don't have anyplace I really wanna go everyday, and everything's close by (within 10 miles at the most, but I don't think I've gone over 5 miles away from home on it yet.)

Sooo....It took me a while to get my first 100. :) I'm happy though. :)

There's a couple of posts on here with celebratory mileage photos and cheers. I hit 100 the day I got my rear rack, and then 200 the day I rode all over town trying to avoid the Prince of England (long story). Neither time did I have my camera on me, dang it! I'm hoping I'll be better prepared when 300 hits.

Which might be in dang MARCH the way this winter is shaping up...

I always make sure to do a little wiggle when another 100 miles passes. I've had mine since oct. and already nearing 3500 miles, so I don't get too excited. I suppose if I rode it less it would be something but I dunno. Congrats none the less.

I bet the "parades" (whether an actual parade, or him just going from point A to point B) are a pain in the butt sometimes, in traffic. If I hear the president is in the area, I just stay home. He was here in the Colorado Springs area a while back, I think, can't remember. I had the opportunity to meet Mrs. Bush (the first one) or Sonny Bono back in 1991 at 29 Palms, California, but my buddies dragged me to meet someone else. I was in so much shock, I never did catch his name, he was a CONGRESSIONAL MEDAL OF HONOR WINNER from WWII. I was the only female meeting him, and it was so awesome I didn't know whether to **** or go blind! Passed within 30 feet of Mr. Bono, and I wasn't even remotely on the right side of the parade grounds to even see Mrs. Bush in the crowds. That poor woman was MOBBED!

Duncan.....a name that only rings a bell with Marines...sat in the base bar drinking with him alongside my now hubby. :) I do believe that's his name, he wrote "Green Side Out", if I remember correctly.

Ok, now I'm TOTALLY OFF TRACK! But, it was a pleasant trip down memory lane. ;)

As a former Marine myself, with experience in certain rice paddies of renown, I enjoyed your little "side track".

What I want to know is, who's going to be first to 10,000? And please take a picture when you get there!

It certainly won't be me :(

:D Military vets(in particular war vets) are my squishy spot(in my heart, for clarification). :D

Headed out on town today, then drove around the base taking pictures, hit the commissary again, and only netted maybe 11 miles on my scooter.

I'll be an old old woman before I hit 10K!!!!

I was looking at your first post in this thread, Catalyst, and I think I see your problem. You know, why you aren't getting the mileage you oughta. You stated that you don't have anywhere you really want to go everyday. You see, dear lady, it is the journey that is important...NOT the destination. Enjoy a trip to nowhere in particular. It's my favorite place.
