Hello there MB pals. Here in San Jose went to the event over the weekend and meet some new friends and Buddy owners . I have had my Buddy since last Tuesday and have over 253 miles, and one crazy trip back over 17 trying to follow some Vespa owners on 8 of them. Well will not do that again. Little Buddy could not keep up But for that love it. Already planing the California ready Stella. Well here are some pics on the event and new Buddy.

Hey there! Did we meet in the parking lot Saturday? You were parked next to Skootz's St. Tropez?
Your Buddy will get faster as the engine breaks in. I don't know how the 4 stroke Stella will compare in terms of speed. Probably fairly similar to the Buddy on the high end, with less acceleration.
Skootz did a lot of freeway miles this week, including some on 17. He'll probably post some of his experiences when he wakes up. I'll just say that he was a real trooper about it. Despite what others may say, the stock Buddy 150 (IMHO, especially now) isn't a good scoot for CA freeways. Riding in a pack helps, though.

Welcome, I'll have to agree with Eric about freeways, but half of the fun is finding the less traveled roads avoiding freeways, there are 2 main ways to get from santa cruz to san jose, the first is hwy 9, and the second is taking soquel-san jose road, to summit road, to old santa cruz hwy, you can take that down a while but half to hop on hwy 17 for less than a mile, the freeway part is all down hill and not bad at all. They are also right about it getting faster, once you hit 1000 miles and switch the dino oil for some nice synthetic you'll notice an immediate difference. I still don't think you'll be keeping up with GTSs on hwy 17 uphills though.
Just keep riding the hell out of that thing, VCLG has their monthly group rides on the first sunday of the month (yahoo group is southbay_scooterist) and santa cruz has one every second sunday (yahoo group is santacruz_vespa). I'd love to see more buddies out there.

I wont do highway like that again. Was very out of my safe zone. But loved the ride. I was the one in the parking lot. Did sign up for Southbay Scooterist. Missed the get together but will hit up next one. I to really want to see more Buddies here in the Valley.
Love the Buddy. Enjoy the life. Oh Stella is my dog
You should come up to San francisco for the SFSG rally in september (you can ride up non fwy with a group usually, also Scoot to the Moon is coming up, it's a fun ride out from alices to half moon bay that's Jul. 24th-25th.
Ya I am getting the hang of some of the sites, and finding rides. will do the Sept. one. Also is there a book on scooter friendly roads. Wait i answered that one. Just go riding. By the way thanks for all the input.

The Bay Area and surrounding region is probably the most active scooter community in the country—always something going on!
After returning to LA on a sweltering day in the San Fernando Valley, a RBSC member and I idly discussed moving to the cooler climes up north.
Wish I could hit that SFSG rally. I'm heading back to SF later this month but will be visiting family. Seriously considering renting a GTS to get around while I'm there.

I think that the sign refers to little push skate board scooters and not scooterist. but keep the scooters off the sidewalk to be on the safeside You just need to hang out with a group of people that ride a little more slower and not try to play catch-up or ride outside your comfort zone.

Meet us this saturday at the los gatos diner, we'll be hanging out for breakfast for a bit before heading off to Alice's, then about an hour of hob nobbing there and waiting for the SF people to show up before heading down to half moon bay for lunch and activities. I'll be showing up in LG at around 10:30am. Also a week from sunday is VCLGs next monthly ride which should be fun.
Hello meandmybuddystella, and welcome. I would like you to know my Buddy has 5,100 mi. on it. It is a 150. At first I had some bugs to work out of it. The most critical single item to watch for is over filling of your oil. Sounds funny, but after I drained an over fill, ( by the dealer ), my buddy started " flying ". I took it reluctently on 101 last week. I was surprised how easy I merged into traffic! right away I was in the fast, commute lane. I held 76mph for quit a while! Vespas, I eat on the road! They never keep up with me. Just to let you know. Allen
