Thank you!
Hi!
On behalf of the San Francisco Scooter Girls, thanks to everyone who came out in the cold on Wednesday to join in the ride and/or made a toy donation at our annual holiday toy run!
Thanks, especially, to the San Francisco Scooter Centre for hosting the ride meet-up and offering us a break on the raffle prizes (a fabulous Corazzo underhoodie, a cozy ScooterSkirt, and a traditional fruitcake).
Special thanks, also, to Deb of the Homestead, who has partnered with us on the holiday toy run from the very beginning and has truly inspired us with her generosity and warm hospitality.
For those of you who missed it, here are highlights from the event:
- Our new Rides & Rallies officer, Carolyn, led a route that included some favorite holiday light displays, as well as several new ones. Polar bears! Peace signs! Garden gnomes! Oh my!
- The San Francisco Fire Dept Station 7 firefighters prepared hot, delicious, meaty, award-winning chili and served it with cornbread. They are amazing people, and we thank them for everything they do.
- Erin made the world's best pumpkin pie with whipped cream, and Joanne brought cookies that were as addictive as a habit-forming drug.
- One of the firemen led us in singing a carol at the Homestead--kind of unexpected at a scooter event!
Thanks to your generosity, the firefighters from Station 7 collected 4-5 barrels of toys to deliver to needy children in the local area. My understanding is that this year's "Toys for Tots" program received THREE TIMES as many toy donation requests as last year, so there are apparently a lot of families in need during this holiday season.
If you missed the toy run but would like to make a donation, collection barrels are continuing to accept new, unwrapped toys at the following scooter-supporter locations:
- San Francisco Scooter Centre, 127 10th Street
- The Homestead, 2301 Folsom Street
Happy Holidays, Everyone, and thanks again for your support!
Best,
Lauren
