SoCal, 5/1: Pasadena Doo-Dah Parade!

Post by ericalm »

The 2010 (33rd) Pasadena Doo Dah Parade is May 1, 2010. Last year we put together a group of scooterists to ride in the parade and everyone had a blast! If eccentricity is your cup of tea, then this is the event for you!

Updates, comments & details here: http://www.meetup.com/LAScooterGroup/calendar/11475537/

For those who have not been to the parade or seen the event, words can not describe it, so I suggest you do a YouTube search and check out some of the videos. There are also a bunch of photos of last years Meetup posted in our photo section.

This year, we're trying to all do costumes around a single theme. The theme: Scooting Superheroes! So a mask, a cape, homemade t-shirt, helmet decoration, scooter decorations, anything that fits into that theme goes. We're not talking about Superman, Batman, et. al. on scooters—just make up your own superhero. If it's scooter-related, even better! It would be great if everyone had a shirt or sign on their scooter or something with their scootering superhero name.

This is all about having fun and being more than a little ridiculous. The costume and decor can be as elaborate as you like. Personally, I won't be wearing tights or spandex but I have some ideas.

There are members of the San Diego Scooter Squadron and other regional groups coming out for this!

Visit the Doo-Dah Parade website for more info. There is a $10 fee per vehicle (charged by the parade organizers). Please bring cash (exact change preferred).

Note that the location of the parade has moved east to Colorado Blvd between Sierra Madre Blvd & San Gabriel Blvd.

After the parade, we'll ride to another location for some eats.

Some of these details will change as we get closer to the ride, but for now we'll meet at Trails on Fern Dell just inside Griffith Park and ride to Pasadena, where we'll likely meet up with some other riders at a location TBD.

This is an all-scooters ride open to everyone, so feel free to invite your scootering pals, even if they're not meetup group members or to spread the word via the scooter groups and forums. Also, if you haven't yet, please check out our group riding tips before coming out.

Look forward to hearing everyone's costume ideas and seeing you there!
