olive siezed up on me on my way to scout leader training camp on friday
i must have been too slow on the clutch as she high sided on me at 60 mph when she siezed up
well olive is home and in the garage
it is a hard seize situation ill have to tare her apart to see what is wrong
i think it might have been a crank failure but i wont know for sure till i get her apart
here are some pics of the damage
now onto the damage to me
please wear your gear you can see what happend to my ff helmet imgainge if that was my face and had hit the asphalt at 60
my jacket and pants took a beating too
i started the autopsy and im psotive it was crank failure now
i pulled the head and was able to move the bore up some till it hit the body
there are some dings in the top of the piston and in the squish band
so im thinking it will be about 600 bucks in parts to get her back running
then throw in a fender new kick start trim and rework the cowel again
Wow man, keep on healing up. Cranks bearings, do you think or a actual crank failure. Either way, melt that friggin' evil crank down into droplets to teach it a lesson.
Glad that you are OK and that your FF did it's job.
Sorry to hear about your seize and partially hurt scoot. We are all glad you are well and able to post. it's the one's who crash and we don't hear from that really scare us.
I look forward to hearing of your progress and the restoration as well of Olive.
i plan on making some sort of trophy out of the crank
i had to order a puller for the fly wheel
the one genuine sells to the dealers isnt very good i went by to have it pulled off and it just pulled the threads off the puller
i havent done any more body work yet i did hammer out the dent in the cowel but i havent put filler on or figureed out what to do with the front fender
i got sick of looking at that fubared front fender
so i got out my air grinder
and i painted the front hub
she is running good the temps staid good on the group ride yesterday but i was a bit dissapointed as olive wasnt the fastest scoot there we were joined by a bergman 400
so i had to settle for second fastest
it was good we had a fair turn out i think there was a dozen scoots
the bergman my stella another stella(sito + deblued and bj jetting) 3 rucks a buddy 125 a black cat(70 kit and prima pipe) and roughouse 2 etons(piped) and a kymco
but no one wanted to race and i couldnt hear if any one else was actauly running
i didnt take any pics forgot the good camera the guy on the bergman did have his camera with so hopefully there will be some pics posted some where
there wasnt much shifting on the ride we stuck in town just a few stop lights
I am sure it would have been fun... I should have stuck around.
I got the hang of the shifting thing pretty fast... maybe a few miles
I just thought it would take longer to get smooth - the idea of left handed grip shifting seems like such a weird idea... but, as you know, its no big deal
