Sight Glass

Post by thumbuddy »

I am only at 244 miles on my 09 Stella. I read that there is about 1/2 quart/litre of oil remaining when bubbles appear. Does that sound about right? If so, when bubbles appear, I would like to run a bit more of the original oil out before filling with a different oil.

Hi thumb,

Yep it's time for more oil, sure you can even run it dry,
but the outcome will be catastrophic. Just add more and
you'll greatly improve the odds of longevity with a well lubed machine.

Your call.

Cheers.

When I owened my 08... when the bubble appeared, I dumped in an entire quart bottle with room to spare. That'll last you over 250 miles. Good luck... ps don't run it dry...

Yeah, I did a double-take on that one, too. I've never owned a 2T Stella or Vespa, but my old kitted 2T Vino would go about 800 miles on a liter of oil.

I'd think you'd be really laying down a smokescreen burning a quart every 250 miles.
