iPhone/GPS Speedo question

Im curious about the GPS speedo I got for my iPhone. Id like to use it, but how do others mount their phones so they can see the speedo?

I have an android w/gps speedo, i flip down the glove box and lay the phone on it to test my speed.

That sounds like the best idea for casual use, but there are handlebar mounts for touring and dual sports available. I'm sure they're pretty pricey, though. Plus they probably work with a standard MC or bicycle handlebar so might not fit a Stella.

If you want to see, just Google "Iphone Handlebar Mount" and lots of stuff comes up.

Yes it would be nice to have it mounted with a quick release type of mount.
Ive seen them on other bikes but never on a P-styled one.
I recently got a Galaxy 7 inch tab.
Converted it to accept my AT&T sim card now it works with phone/data plan too.
Id like to mount that sucker up somehow!!! hahaha.

There are a lot of mounts you can bolt on to your mirror stem or elsewhere that will allow you to easily remove your phone/device.

Personally, I would love to have one of those mounts and attach a motorcycle GPS, but even the Zumo 220 is insanely expensive. I think most people just buy a car gps and a weatherproof case.

I would rather keep my phone in my pocket or stored onboard, especially since the assisted GPS on most cellphones eats up your data allowance, plus, it's useless if you get away from your carrier's cell towers, as so often happens to me.

Right. . I think the OP was just wanting it so he can use it as a speedometer. I have tested mine with GPS Speedometer and found that over 30. . . My analog was 3 mph faster and over 40 it was 5 mph faster than digital. .
No more need to test. Keep the phone in my pocket now.

I don't get the idea of having GPS on your Stella. Half the fun of riding is getting lost and exploring remote places you've never seen. For me it's not about transportation, it's about mentally escaping the "day to day".

Jimmbomb has the right idea, I just want to check the accuracy of my speedo, that is really all. I don't really care for the "lay the phone on my glovebox lid" idea but Ill figure something out.

I do both (transportation and escaping). I don't think I need a GPS and I've occasionally just pulled over to use my iPhone. But I do sometimes need directions.

I would like to get some sort of dedicated vehicle GPS some day. For most of my travel around here I don't need one but there's times it would come in handy. Like my last trip to Atlanta. I printed my route on Mapquest and at the last moment remembered to print one for my route back as well. If you ever exit the Interstates in ATL, you almost never get back on the same way. And the signage to get back is really pitiful.

I guess most all car GPS these days have voice and route recalc (in case you miss a turn). N
Don't know about lane assist, though.

It also may be that almost every other freekin' street in Atlanta is Peachtree something.
