The most important part: Vary the RPMs (easy to do on a shifty) and don't run it at wide open throttle for too long.
People get religious about break in procedures and have many different opinions. I favor the "hard" break in: For the first 600 miles, flex the engine like a muscle, taking it up and down its full range. Don't baby it, but don't stress it out either.

^^^^Thats about a perfect desription. I"ve built many 2 strokes and I agree completely. The piston rings are really broken in by 100 miles. the rest is all the other bits. Make sure you do the 300 mile oil change ASAP, the Stella really sheds alotta metal when new.ericalm wrote:The most important part: Vary the RPMs (easy to do on a shifty) and don't run it at wide open throttle for too long.

Speed is only a matter of money...How fast do you want to go?

On my first 4T I noticed some good performance improvements up to 1500 miles or so. On 4T no. 2, it hasn't been so noticeable, but this one performed a bit better from the get go. (FWIW, the first one was from the original, small run of demo and test models. The second from the full production run.)
