Post by jamisfoes »

Just picked up my brand new 2010 Stella 4T for an OTD price of $3100!! Does anyone know if there has been any changes to the Stella from 2010 to 2012?

Pictures tonight.

Congrats! No changes to the model other than some new colors in 2012/2013.

Where in SoCal are you?

It's worth it though. The dealer in my area wants $4,200 OTD for it. I saved some money getting it from Thousand Oaks. For some reason the Thousand oaks dealer couldn't move the bike and really wanted to get rid of it before the end of the month. I got the last one in their stock. :D

Nice! I'd change the grips first thing. But that's me.

After a long buyers remorse period, mine is starting to grow on me more and more. I do appreciate what Genuine is trying to do.

I almost dropped the bike on my truck bed because I had attached the tie down to the grip and the grip slowly slid off the handlebar while I was driving. Good thing I caught it before the grip came off the bar entirely.

When I got home I took the grip off the handle bar and sprayed hair spray on the bar and inside the grip. Re-installed the grip. I am hoping the hair spray will glue the grip to the bar and prevent it from rotating.

I put these grips on...

http://www.scooterworks.com/Grip-Left-T ... P6539.aspx

if you like them buy two left grips instead of one right and one left.

well worth it.

oh and never tie down on the grips. use a cloth to protect the paint and tie down just past the clutch/brake lever. compress the front shock too.

I have no idea what you mean by tieing down? I thought handles just slip on and off? what are these tie's you speak of and how do the levers have anything to do with the handles?

Ok, Question:

If the only difference between the 2010 and 0212/13 is the two tone colors, is there any way to determine (prove) the year of manufacture?

In the 60's, motorcycle's were titled by the year sold, not manufactured. I have a 1967 (titled) Honda S90 that I can tell was built between 1966 and the third month of 1968. Previously I had a 1968 (titled) Honda CA77 305 Dream, they stopped building them in 1967 and the wiring harness (which many go by for year determination) was tagged 1965.

Have the laws changed now so someone walking in and buying a 2013 is not getting a "new" 2010?

Not that it really makes a difference if they are identical, new is still new.

tnx

There is a sticker on the inside metal leg fairing showing the vin number and the year that the bike is manufactured. The vin number is also carved in on a metal surface inside the glove compartment.

Great question! I bought my P from a girl who moved to California from Minnesota (noticed you're from MN) and the MN title she gave me had it listed as an '83. Anyway, because it needed the vin number in two locations to register (ie sticker and frame stamp) and the sticker was damaged due to age, the DMV made me take it to the CHP to run the numbers and make sure everything was ok. They came back and said it was an '81

I always wondered how this happened...now I think I have my answer.
