Fully synthetic 2T oil for the mix - I use Motul 510 2T Synthetic. I add about 3/4 of a quart when the sight glass shows white; do not fill past the tank and up into the filler tube.
For the gearbox, the owners manual says SAE 30. Be sure you use a straight weight 30, not a 10-30 or other multi-weight high detergent oil. I change twice as frequently as the manual says, be sure not to over torque and strip the plug threads.

I do everything cautioned against.
You'll be sorry you asked.
I use Peak 2t TC-W3 injector oil.
My rings are fine, it doesn't smoke (hardly.....never, once hot) and burns completely.....no buildup in the pipe tip or on the wheel.......now showing 5k miles.....original plug looks good and reinstalled at 4k miles.
Trans: I use Harley Davidson synthetic SAE 20W50 gearbox and clutch oil...this converts to a 80w90 gear oil.
Shifts great and clutch action is as good as any of my conventional Hondas and Kawi's
There will be much dissention.

after posting here and on bobistheoilguy.com forum, I have decided to use:
2T oil: BelRay 2T mineral oil and/or Honda GN2 2 stroke oil, both of are designated for motorcycles, can be used in injector systems (autolube), and I have on hand...
BelRay 2T mineral oil: http://www.belray.com/sites/default/fil ... %20Oil.pdf
Honda GN2 oil: (listed on page 3) http://motorcycle.honda.ca/Content/moto ... ons-en.pdf
gearbox: Amsoil 10w-40 synthetic motorcycle oil (which is also rated for use as an 80w-90 GL-1 gear oil) which my shop had on hand; they ran out of the Amsoil 75w-90 Manual Transmission and Transaxle Gear Lube (GL-4 rated) that is usually used for Stella gearbox oil changes...

I wanted to update this in case anyone actually gives a flying fart...
the shop that sold me 3 quarts of Belray 2T mineral allowed me to return them and pay the difference, so I grabbed 3 quarts of Amsoil Interceptor, so now I have some synthetic on hand once I use what's in the tank and the opened containers of Honda GN2 and Yamahalube 2S that I had around from recent purchases and leftover from my 2009 Genuine Rattle 110 I had last year...

Hold on a sec, is your bike new or is it properly broken in? I just realized this wasn't discussed. I, like many people, like to use a mineral (organic, whatever you want to call it) oil. This is because these oils are more abrasive and enable the break in to happen much faster (and arguably better). The Belray would have been a fine oil for break in, just FYI.

just passed 525 miles, original tank fill was BelRay with top offs with leftover SuperTech 2T marine that I had from my Rattler purchase last year...when that ran out I switched to the Honda GN2;
my intention is to introduce synthetic gradually over the next 500 miles by topping off with the Honda GN2 and then Yamahalube 2S (which is s synthetic blend), and then Amsoil once all that is used...
