Hi all, bit of advice requested. I blew out the rear tire on my 2007 2t today, it was about 20 degrees out at the time. So a couple things...
I put on the spare, but this used bike had been upgraded to tubeless. So the spare says drive--> front<--. Basically flip it around to drive or steer with it, but the valve stem and asymmetrical depth of the wheel was set up so it only fit on facing the wrong way (I think, it was a real pain so I didn't want to risk putting the valve stem on the engine side and totally f it up on my way to work. Only have the one spare you know.)
When I have it up off the ground I drop it, not hard bit the untyred wheel hits the ground.
Next, while tightening the bolts, I notice that the wheel has a bit of looseness to it, like I can wobble it a bit side to side. I don't like this but hope it has always been that way.
Okay. I checked the pressure and it was at about 20 psi. Which I know is a bit low. But I had to get to work. I drive off, hands now blocks of wood and I notice a distinct feeling of vertigo. Like the back end just feels a little loose or unstable. Like maybe it's that wobble or maybe it's low pressure in the tire or maybe it's the tread facing the wrong way.
What do you think for next steps. I'm gonna pump it up more, but if that doesn't fix it, what do you think it might be?
Thanks fellas!

No, it would have not always been like that and it's not safe to ride if the wheel is not securely mounted. Not speaking about the tires, it's not safe to ride if the wheel is not securely mounted.Next, while tightening the bolts, I notice that the wheel has a bit of looseness to it, like I can wobble it a bit side to side. I don't like this but hope it has always been that way.
