Shorter 1st gear for the Stella?

Post by misterbrackets »

I've been thinking about this for a while. Does anyone else feel like a shorter first gear would help the Stella when starting from a dead stop? (Especially on hills)

So, I think the standard tooth count is 57 --- I wonder what would happen going up to say a 58 tooth first gear? Would this then create too much of a gap between first and second?

Any thoughts?

I think first gear already feels like a granny gear, you want it even more so?

Well --- When starting from a complete stop, I feel like the engine lugs a little on any kind of moderate incline before it gets going.

To me, it seems like acceleration is fine overall, except first gear initially. So, I was just wondering if anyone else has thought this?

Maybe I need to work on technique :)

It's the motor. It takes a little bit to spin up and make power.
"Stella" is Latin for "use threadlocker on all fasteners"
