New To Scootering
Hi all. I've been lurking for several months on this and other scooter forums, trying to determine what scooter to get. Now that I know, time to come out (so to speak).
I'm new to scootering, but I've been riding street motorcycles for 30 years. And just when I'm feeling bored to tears with what the motorcycle industry has to offer, I run into some guy on a Puma Valentine. I'd never EVER even considered a scooter before, but man that Valentine looked sweet!
I immediately started researching scooters to decide what I wanted (quickly ruled out Chinese scooters). As soon as I found out there'd be an automatic Stella, that was that. I HAVE to have one, and will pre-order just as soon as I get confirmation from the dealer that a) they'll get some and b) the price.
I was already leaning toward the Stella anyway, but didn't like the idea of manual shift. I figured if I'm going from motorcycle to scooter, why not go all the way and get an automatic? And if I change my mind, scooters are cheap enough that I won't feel locked into one for ten years. So, there you go.
Anyway, bye bye Rockers, hello Mods! It's nice to get into something completely new and fresh (to me).

Very cool. I have been riding 40 years, and though I rode several scooters in the lat 25 years; I didn't own one myself till about 3-4 years ago. I now own 3 and am having a blast. I put 5k on the scoots last year ( about the same as I did on the motorcycles ).
I see that the scooter world ( In my opinion) has what the bike world used to. No one really cares what you are on as long a its FUN.

Speed is only a matter of money...How fast do you want to go?

I had to do some research to find out what a Puma Valentine was - now I wish I'd seen them before. Those are cool looking. I parked next to a green one at the Home Depot a couple weeks ago and didn't know what it was, thought it was a lambretta or something.
It's great to see a motorcycle convert - I've got mixed feelings about motorcyclists I cross on the scoot. The ones who give the low wave (is there a name for that?) or the "whats up" nod are "alright" the ones who ignore it or turn away are "snobs."
The Stella is by far the most challenging and rewarding of the scoots I've owned so far. Mine has 10K miles on it so there are a lot of little projects that come up, you know, frequently.
But you should see the smokin' chrome hubbies I found...Try to put these puppies on a Ducati!

What ???? Once a Rocker, always a Rocker ... what rides did you have (or hopefully still have).Anyway, bye bye Rockers, hello Mods!
I sold the BSAs, but my '70 Triumph is still going strong after 25+ years (though hates ethanol gas, so I gotta buy 5 gal cans of 105 octane race gas and mix it 50/50.)
... This isn't my Roxanne, but the sounds are the same ... checkout @ the 2:00 mark ... Rock on !!

Haha, I guess you're right, since I'm not about to start tearing patches off my jacket. However, I did sell my last bike and currently have zero motorcycles (to make room for two scooters; the wife is getting one as well). I've owned a nice cross-section of street bikes over the years though, and I know something will come along someday that'll get me back into it. But for now, there's this whole world of scooters to explore and learn about, and I'm really excited.fisher1 wrote:What ????
