Im wondering if any-1 here has fixed a rear cowl stud without any welding? ?
Mine us MIA.. musta broke and rolled onto the street somewheres in my great city.
Dammnnnn. There is a hole there now where the stud did protrude.
Crap.
If you did... how did you or your friends do it ??
Thanks all..

Well I got it fixed...
Now this is a 81 Vespa.. and I dont recall if the stella cowl studs are fixed to the cowls the same way.. but..IF they are....
here's how I did it.
The stud broke completely off

This shoulder bolt was recruited to be push in from behind.. had to drill out the hole a bbit more

Locked it down and got ready to bend it

Bending

All bent and cut to length

A bit of duct tape wrapped around the new stud.. and it fits!!!
ps.. this is a vid..so click on the picture
(its got a stupid little commercial that you skip on my mobile)

hope this help others with a similar problem.
Im sure there's other ways to do it, but it's done till this cheap bolt breaks off, then I'll do it again.

Slip some non-reinforced fuel line over it to insulate it against vibration. Howard broke on off of his Stella, but the rubber insulator kept it in-he bodywork so we can weld it back on later.
At what point does a hobby become an addiction? I'm uncertain, but after the twelfth scooter, it sorta feels like the latter...
Seriously...I've lost count...

Good idea..az_slynch wrote:Slip some non-reinforced fuel line over it to insulate it against vibration. Howard broke on off of his Stella, but the rubber insulator kept it in-he bodywork so we can weld it back on later.
I notice that the Stellas have a "cap or lid" on the end of the stud to keep the rubber insulator from sliding off.... Sadly.. mine doesn't. .
Gorilla Glue comes mind...
