New to forum - Stella questions.
I'm about to purchase my first Stella next week and I'm still deciding between a nicely discounted $$$ 4T or a new StellaAuto. Still yet 'test ride' them both, but after all the reading and research, I may be leaning to the new auto version with many more modern upgrades and what seems to be less time and $ spent servicing.
My last scooter was a 50cc Italjet Velicifero, so the increase in engine size will be very welcomed.
Couple questions:
1. Anybody do a headlight or bulb upgrade (s)? Want the best possible since I'll be driving on some pretty dark windy, country roads. Plus if I get the Stella Auto it will be black. The indicator lights/blinkers have a clear lens with a orange bulb? Is that correct?
2. I don't like the stand on the Stella Auto since it sits too far back and looks is if it does't recoil off the ground very high. I'd prefer a side stand or one more towards the middle like the 4T. Does anybody know if all the stands are universal for all the Stella models and can be fit without drilling?

Reply I got from Genuine via Facebook
"The new #StellaAuto just has the center stand because of the new position of the engine. The rear wheel needs to be off the ground because when the engine is turned on the rear wheel will spin and if the wheel is on the ground, the scooter will go. The 4t stand setup cannot be setup to fit the Automatic without modifications, which we have not tried nor suggest. While the sidestand might work with some drilling, it is not recommended because the scooter could roll off of the sidestand at idle, and the center stand won’t work."

Headlamps are easy to upgrade/change. All Stellas use a removable bulb; the older models use a BA20D bulb and the newer ones use an HS1 bulb.
Halogen bulbs are available for both types.
All Stellas have clear lenses. All Stellas came with clear lenses. The lenses are interchangeable with P/PX-series Vespas and aftermarket options offer the lenses in other colors (red, orange, yellow, smoked) and styles (crystal clear lens, black surround instead of chrome).

At what point does a hobby become an addiction? I'm uncertain, but after the twelfth scooter, it sorta feels like the latter...
Seriously...I've lost count...
Seven mopeds ...that's still manageable...

You can put a side stand on a 4T 150. And on a 2T.. but, you dont want to run the motor on a 2t while it's on the side stand.
No side stand for the Automatic. and that's, I believe is just a matter of time.
Isn't there side stands on Buddys?? and other auto scooters?? Italian and Japanese??
I see lot's of side stands on auto Scoots.
I supposed 1 could be modded onto a Stellauto if you're handy.

None of the modern Vespas come with a sidestand. The problem with an auto scooter is the risk of the bike running itself off the sidestand if the engine is running. As far as I know, modern auto scooters with sidestands use an ignition interlock so the engine won't run with the sidestand down.jimmbomb wrote:No side stand for the Automatic. and that's, I believe is just a matter of time. I now understand the concerns about the automatic setup that you shouldn't idle while on stand, if back wheel is touching the ground. My question was more of will the 4t center stand or the re-enforced one actually fit the new automatic.jimmbomb wrote:You can put a side stand on a 4T 150. My last scooter always rested on it's back wheel and never had a problem.

A number of scooters with CVTs come with side stands. They have a switch in the stand that does not allow the bike to run when the side stand is down.
If someone makes a quality side stand for the Stella automatic I will likely install one. I put one on my Vespa 300 GTS. You just have to be mindful of the potential problems.

I actually kind of like the basic 4t stand, but the new one (like yours ElderScoot) does't seem to pop up out of the way and is close to scraping the ground. I could be way off…and I'll find out soon enough when I pick up my black auto next week.
BTW, Elder Scoot, going to post any more photos in the Gallery? Would like to see the Metallic Black up close in the sunshine...
