Gotta Question

Post by Drum Pro »

How are the Stellautos selling? I would think that LML/Genuine have got a home run with the mix of a new engine in an old school package...

My dealer has sold a number of them already. The classic look of the bike is a real selling point.

They seem to be selling well this side of the pond too. The importer Moto Gb importer way more autos than geared scooters when they took over the contract last year.

I definitely get the appeal of them, but it makes me sad that the old shiftys are going the way of the dodo.

I told the missus that Stella was going to introduce an auto and you'd think she just saw Santa Claus in the flesh the way her eyes lit up. LOL

So... are they going to change the name from "Star" to something else?

No it just called the star auto.

In India it's known as the star auto Euro as it has the electric start and disc brake. The basic Indian models don't have either.

I would like to think that it would sell well but the shifty would still be the staple of the vintage scooter appeal. Just as soon as I can talk my wife into the 3rd scooter in the garage I will purchase a 4t Stella, just for fun.

I will never know, my dealer says he will not get any, because he can't sell scooters! He has 2 4T shiftys on the floor, sold 2 others to out of state customers.

I have heard that Genuine will not be importing more manual shift bikes. Like it or not, CVT are the transmissions of choice for the Western market. I only saw a handful of PX scooters while touring Italy for three weeks last year. Larger wheeled Hondas dominated the market.

sounds like I 'm glad I got my 4t shifty when I did, it was an end of model year sale... hate to see the shifty go away...
