Anyone happen to have a pic of the large Prima roll bag on a rear rack of a Stella? Anyone love it or hate it?

I think I've seen someone sport a picture around here of it, I also like the way it looks but I've also heard that it sags rather quickly. I'm also looking for a nice roll bag, not so much a crate.

Can't speak to the sag-ability, but here are some shots on Buddy Italias (in the first two posts). The brown Prima would look really good on either a red or a green Stella, no?

It's supposed to have some stiffeners inside.

That looks awesome, gives the Italia a more vintage/euro look. I also like some of the Saddleman roll bags. Might be time to do some shopping :)

I had it on my Stella, but have taken it off. I'll see if I took any pics!

I got a screamin' deal on one; otherwise probably wouldn't have bought it. As far as cases go, it looks about as good as anything will on a Stella. But the quality of these is kind of mediocre. They sag, fade and the buckles and straps tend to break.

There are some decent ones made for motorcycles if you shop around.

Thanks! The Stella's actually a cream color; hard to tell in the dark.
Here she is looking clean & pristine before the bars were added and she was dropped a couple times by test riders.

IMO, the S/X Appeal cases sold by Motorsport/ScooterWest, which are similar in concept, are a step up in quality.

I think the SX Appeal may be a bit smaller than the Prima. At the very least, the Prima has larger side pockets. With the Prima, my Vega XXL helmet sticks up a bit when the top is closed.

In the end, I decided that it's easier to hang my helmet from the hook than put it in the Prima roll bag. For carrying stuff, I have various tote bags crammed into the spacious glove box, bungees and a cargo net. The Prima really doesn't provide additional capacity beyond that and isn't secure like a hard case. I'm keeping it because it's easy enough to put on and take off as I need it, but I don't think that'll be often.

WOW! That is a really nice color!
I'm really considering a Stella before the summer gets here, and thats the color I want, the Cream and Brown looks so cool together!

Well, my avocado green Stella was delivered today - good job by azmotocity. They had one of their guys drive it up to my house in Las Vegas in the back of a pickup. $100 for delivery? I've got all the time in the world to drive down and pick it up, but it would have cost me much more than than for fuel.

The Prima bag is coming tomorrow, but no use, the rear rack was out of stock so azmotocity will be sending it up when they get it. It's OK, will give me some time to decide if the Prima is what I really want. There is a chance I'll decide to get a basket instead - looks funky but really more practical for just getting groceries or a 12 pack. We'll see. I'll take pics anyway of the bag sitting on the seat if nothing else.

1st impressions of the Stella - fun! Shifting is quite an experience, lots of mechanical bits to be coordinated, sounds and vibrations make driving much more interactive than a CVT. My Vespa LX50 will get a break for a while.

The Vespa QC is light years ahead of the Stella, but I certainly expected that.

Ive got a tan one on my black Stella with a Chrome rack. I love it. I have not filled it many times, but I like the look since I wanted something more classic looking than a topcase and more classy than a crate. But, that is just me. I will try to attach a pic.

This is a really helpful topic! I was sure I was dead set on a large brown prima roll bag for my '09 Stella, and also to be used on my '10 Stella (or whatever year it happens to be) to match the brown seat/grips like Eric's.

and while The ones that I'd seen were faded, (which I figured was from parking in the sun) I had no idea about the other quality issues:

So I’m glad you all mentioned that.

I have some ideas- just free thinking, maybe someone can run with it.
• I wonder if you could get a (or if it exists) a fabric covered hard shell top case. that way you could lock it and trust it like a hard shell, but that could still somehow keep the look of a roll bag?
• Could the bag be supported by an added spine to the top flap part or something so it doesn’t sag as much? (I know it has a "stiff inner plastic compartment to hold its shape", but I wonder if you could reinforce it?
• What if I store it with a paper tube or something small in it when there is nothing in it so it’ll keep it from sagging?
• Has anyone found a better one? Better than the SX? I think we all like the brown best though, right?

I just appreciate the look of a roll bag I guess

thats me, too. I agree :D

I looked it up if anyone else is curious: Prima Roll Bag – Large Dimensions: 19"L x 12" W x 10.5"H. vs. SX Appeal Canvas Top Case: measures 15 inches wide, 12 inches deep and 11 inches tall.
Also the SX apparently includes a rain cover (handy), and claims to have a UV protective coating to prevent fading. Any experience on if the UV coating works of not? Is it possible to buy your own UV coating and spray it on anything else anyway?

Well, I received the Prima large roll bag. I liked the looks of, but, one of the bottom strap clips broke when I was putting it on for the first time. I was thinking of just replacing all the bottom straps / clips with velcro straps, but decided to send it back. The 2 long top straps look to be of questionable quality, but the rest of the bag is classy and beautiful. I'll keep looking.

I get alot of good comments on mine, sometimes more than about the cute scoot itself! I have the brown and it has gotten faded a bit in the sun, the trim has taken on a greenish hue...

I just keep mine stuffed with crumpled newspaper and it seems to be holding up fine...

I can see that it will sag at some point and I am sure you could rig a prop up in the corners of the large compartment. A simple t or x out of something light weight, possibly zip-tied through some holes in the shared divider of the outside pocket might work to keep or restore form.

All in all, I think this bag is probably a bit overpriced, but I bought it for the look I wanted so I paid the price. There was a used black one on ebay last week and it sold for $70 plus shipping which was about $30 too steep for me.

Finally, I am going to look into some UV protectant for mine now that it is mentioned. $100 bag fading in one summer would stink.

On the surface, this seems a little whacky, but I seem to recall that someone said they put either a frisbee on each end or a small cookie sheet on each end. If I had a roll bag that was sagging, I'd probably try to fashion something out of small gauge brass rod. Easy to shape and easy to solder into a fairly sturdy frame.
