Hello and some Stella 4T questions..

Hello, just registered! Picked up an avocado Stella 4T from Route 66 in MDR, CA last week. Love it.
I've mainly been on the Modern Vespa site, but seeing I keep buggin' Eric w/ PMs, I figured I should sign up here.
Has anyone posted instructions on how to disconnect the EVAP hoses? Just so I don't mess things up if/when I overfill the gas tank..

And here I thought I was the only one bugging Eric; he's been great with my newbie questions. I have a creme 4T coming and can't wait. Happy to hear you're enjoying your new ride.

You're in CA and you want to disconnect the EVAP hoses? Good grief, the envirocops are probably on their way to your house right now!

You're in CA and you want to disconnect the EVAP hoses? Good grief, the envirocops are probably on their way to your house right now!
I think I'm already doing my part for the environment by getting "140" mpg...

Was that your 4T parked at Arclight tonight? I came out and saw a nice, clean, new creme one with Rt. 66 plate frame. My scoot looked so dirty and, uh, weathered, in comparison.
To circumvent the evap, put a steel bearing (big enough that it will stay put) in the hose coming from the tank to the canister. Then vent the gas cap with a small (1/16") hole. Easy!
Though so far, no reports of evap system issues. I don't think it's vented near the neck of the tank (well, there's really no neck) so overfill will be as much a problem as with some others.

Not mine. Mine is green. But I guess Glenn Bartels goes to the same gym as me as when I left last night his business card was on my bike, I guess saying hi!
Re. the evap, wouldn't it make sense to unplug that hose at the gas tank end, then plug it there. Then you wouldn't need to drill anything in the gas cap as the open connector where the hose was attached will provide the venting.
I gotta go down and take a look to see if that makes sense..
edit - no, that doesn't make sense as it plugs the EVAP! Never mind.
As an aside, I had my first gas stop today. Blitzing around LA it took .7 gallons for 88 miles. = 125mpg.

Sounds about right considering a two stroke draws roughly twice as much fuel in per crankshaft rotation as a four stroke. That the 4T would be up in the 120's I mean.

Today's "fill up" netted 105mpg. I was on the gas all the time so the running avg is about 115mpg.
I also overfilled the tank, w/o thinking I had... Problem was that just after filling up I rode up a long, steep hill (Manhattan Beach) and Zee pointed out that liquid was leaking out of the bike dripping from the fender.
About then it started missing when I made it to the level road (PCH) which lasted a few seconds. I gassed it in 2nd gear and kept the revs and then it cleared up, to not repeat on the rest of the trip (about 15 miles back).
User error, putting too much gas in the bike.
Hopefully any remainder of gas in the evap system will evaporate.
