Stella 4T POC Exhaust Prototype Spotted

Post by pocphil »

After sampling the Polini Stella 4T Exhaust (very, very quiet) and sampling the Pinasco 4T exhaust (very, very expensive, but still kinda quiet). We've decided to go ahead with R&D on a new Stella 4T exhaust.

Here's a spy video of our first attempt...

Turn up those speakers!

Count me among the whiners, Phil... too loud for me. Louder than the PM Tuning pipe on my kitted LX150. I'll go with the Polini pipe, but I want the carb!

Ok, I guess irony and humor doesn't translate well to the interweb.

That video was shot with an exhaust having no baffle / core whatsoever! Notice the guys in the background running out of the way when we fired it up?

We were just test mounting an old POC Bajaj pipe to see how different they were.

We're starting prototyping, rest assured it will be loud, but quieter than the original POC Bajaj pipe, it will sound much better than the Pinasco and the Polini.

I thought it sounded an awful lot like a straight pipe, but I didn't want to say that. Kinda figured you had some kind of minimal packing in the tail section, but straight through like an old Cherry Bomb.

I'll reserve judgement, then, until I hear the production model. :P

LOL! That would be hilarious to drive around for a day.

Nice to know some performance parts are getting worked on. I think I might be in the market for some upgrades eventually- I'd like a bit more oomph.

I'd buy it in a heartbeat (if I had a 4T Stella). I used to drive a 1958 SAAB 750GT with twin Abarth exhausts that sounded like that, only louder. I had to pack the pipes with steel wool to pass annual inspection!

I'll take it! Then I'll see if my Harley riding coworkers give me any street cred.

Fantastic! I'm still looking for a local welder to put a 5" pipe on the outlet of my Bajaj POC...

Dunno, But I learned a week or two back that the Bajaj POC won't just bolt up to the new Stella's.

Pipes are different at the header.

Did a Pinasco on one so far, worked well once we got the jetting right. Far better than stock, I am not into loud, but yeah...tooo quiet. I have an SIP road on my 2T and something along that volume level would be nice.

Hoping to help a friend do a polini on his in the spring.

If you're hoping for a louder sound with the Polini... you'll be dissapointed.
I did one June '11,,,,,

lot of cash for just as quite as stock muffler...
I chose to gut the crap out of it to make it louder and rejet after I got the sound I liked..

Depends if you plan on spending on the Pinasco stickered one or building one up from a Dell'Orto PHBG. So far, I've replicated the Pinasco for about $137 in parts (includes intake adapter). Going to work out the tuning as soon as John's ready to let me mess with his beater 4T.
