I sold my Stella 4T

Post by desmolicious »

Just as I got all the issues ironed out with it, fixed all the electrical stuff, fixed the suspension clunking, fixed the stalling, fixed the choke, replaced the rotted rubber, fixed the oil leak, I sold her last night.

It was a weird feeling as I rode her to her new owner. I felt like turning around and saying I changed my mind. Now with 1100 miles on her, she purrs, runs much better than she ever had, is smoother and faster.

So why on earth did I sell her? Cuz I had 6 bikes in the garage which is just too much since I only get to ride a total of a few hours a week. Since I already had another shifter scoot (a PX) there really was no need for two.
So I set a firm price - no haggle room - and said if someone would step up then off she'd go. I said no haggling because that was to be my excuse to keep her if the price wasn't met. So much for that plan, a local dood who saw her went nuts over her and had to have it. It seems that selecting just the right decals to set the bike apart from others really helps.

Farewell Stella! I'm sure I'll see you around town. Good luck with the new bike Matthew.

I'm still going to stick around here cuz I dig these rides, plus I also have a Buddy BJ. It will be interesting to see what happens to these bikes as they mature.

 Bittersweet! But I'm sure you know what you're doing.

I jumped so fast to buy mine (within a week of discovering the existence of the 4T) that I sometimes wonder what I would have done if I'd shopped around? Maybe the Vespa S150?

Still it definitely has a place in my garage for now. My other bikes are totally different- serve different purposes, so I'm lucky I don't have to make that choice.

Some decisions are tough. If I had a PX, I would probably not have bought my Stella 2-T.......duplication. I sounds to me like you did the right thing.

Sorry to see her go!

I know if I had a PX, I probably wouldn't "double up" and also own a Stella. (Though if I had 6 bikes, who knows?)

There's something therapeutic about selling some of multiple bikes.

I'm in the same mode. Not to say I don't love em all, but it is a lot of work too.

I bought the Stella because I had 'convinced' myself that it was different enough from my PX to make it a useful addition.

But really what had happened was that it was feeding a scooter addiction!
If I didn't work most of the time then heck yeah I'd have kept it and got more... Because I'd be goofing off all the time and scooting around.

But the reality was I did not have enough time to ride them all, still don't.
It is a start...

Anyway, you lot are in for a treat once you hit about 1K miles. The motor breaks in really really nicely.

Dammit!

Nice to see some really good reviews of how they break in. I have a 2t 2009 that i bought in June. she just turned 3 k. I must say right after I bought it I thought I made a huge mistake. It ran so rough, I thought it was going to come apart, and had a couple small quality issues, but she ended up being like buying a house, once you get the manufacturing bugs worked out, it has become my partner. I commute about 50 miles a day and the first couple of times i was miserable. my hand hurt form that shifty thing, and it just ran so rough, then after I did my first oil change, things improved, MzStella now is a real joy to ride, she is so smooth and simple, she is stock and i have not decided if i will remove the emissions for a bit. but i am so glad i stuck out the hard times, Boy is it worth it.

Well, I'm grateful for the 1K you did get out of the Stella, because you were helpful with all my naive questions.

I've already decided that if my Stella doesn't have the long life we all hope for, my next scooter will be a PX.
