Weight Limit

Post by osic »

I fell in love with the stella this weekend instead of the Kymco super 8 despite the price differences. I did read that the weight limit on the bike it 350. I am 220 but this kind of eliminates a second rider. Despite the limit, people have said that they have exceeded this with no problems after getting better tires. Is this accurate????

That is correct. Me and Luna have ridden two up a lot and it was fine.

The only thing I have noticed however is that a lot of two up riding (seemingly regardless of the weight limit being passed or not) is that the coil bracket tends to break. Now this may have more to do with how the load is redistributed and the vibrations of a 2T Stella, I have not heard of a 4T to suffer from this yet. In any case it's a simple fix where you move the coil from the engine to the frame inside the cowl.

The weight limits on scooters often seem to be ridiculously conservative for whatever reason.

I'm 220+ and can do 2-up on my Stella 4T. (My wife HATES riding on the back of the Stella, though. Too jerky. She said, "Yeah, I can see how that's fun for you.")

Not the strongest up a hill with 350 pounds on it, but you're not hurting the scooter.

yeah 6'3" and 250 here. Common passenger is 130 lbs. No real problems here. I'm sure we are 400 lbs with gear. Slower to go and longer to stop. otherwise its fine.
Speed is only a matter of money...How fast do you want to go?
