What is meant by deblue your air filter?

Post by Maximus53 »

I have been reading through some of the posts and keep coming across people mentioning that one of the first things they do to their Stella is deblue the air filter and rejet. I understand the rejet part, but have no idea what deblue means....

Could someone please enlighten me?

Thanks!

If you open the airbox you will see that the filter is blue. Deblueing refers to the removal of that blue coating to allow extra air to flow in, thus allowing you to jet higher.

So, do you use a special chemical to get the BLUE off?? Brake or carb cleaner?? Mine always seems to be soaked with 2T.
Someone here locally told me to order the Vespa version of this air filter for less air restriction thus better air flow.

Ignore my last post. I thought debluing was something you had to CLEAN off. Now I see it's something you have to TAKE off! Live and Learn!
