Stella accessories

Post by Nettar »

Anyone had any experience with a side stand for the Stella? I've bought a couple of accessories from Scooterworks that I've had to return because they didn't fit the Stella, at least not with the accessories that I'd already installed.
The folks at Scooterworks are very accommodating and top-notch when it comes to customer service but the descriptions of their products on the website tend to be a bit over-optimistic. That is to say that what they consider "universal" and my universe don't always coincide.
Scooterworks side stand for the Stella? Any experience out there?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I have ordered and recieved one but yet to install.
After questioning the members I was told it fits just fine but is not designed to be used in conjunction with the centerstand.
We'll see....I really want to use both.

It appears well made and sturdy......you will need someone to either hold the machine while you remove the centerstand and install the sidestand or, use a hoist with a front wheel vise.

I will be installing mine later in the year or during the off season.

Somewhat related... I am curious why you want a sidestand. Is it just because it is a bit easier for shorter stops?

For me, it is convienent to just put the stand down while seated and then step off the machine.....chose your spots wisely though to avoid a forward roll off.

I'm basically interested in it because it would be really convenient for stopping at the market or other shorter stops.
I was intrigued by the concept but I figured it didn't come with one for a reason and, as noted in my original post, I've had some issues with some of the accessories flogged by Scooterworks.
Just looking for a bit of input.
Thanks for any help.

The side stand does fit the 4-stroke Stella, and can be used in conjunction with the center stand.

However...

Because of the tight clearances on everything, you'll either need the side stand deployed when using the center stand, or will need to extend the side stand in order to get the center stand to fully retract. In addition, the side stand is definitely less stable than the center stand. There will still be many situations where using the center stand will be a better choice.

For instillation, I ended up putting down some bubble wrap and gently laying the Stella on its side. That was probably not great for it, but other than a little trouble starting it the first time I did so after the install, I've had no issues.
