I want a race seat on my 4T

Post by evilbean42 »

I really want to get a race seat for my Stella 4T. The problem is that I can't find one that is designed for the 4T. I know the raised tank on the 4T means that most Vespa PX and Stella 2T seats do not fit, but I've already fallen in love with this one from Scooters.com

So my real question is, can I make it fit? I understand that some modification will be needed, but does anybody have any idea how much? I really don't want to make any changes to the scooter. Is it likely that I could get it to fit by only grinding out the bottom of the seat and/or making changes to the hinge? Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone knows of a place where I can get a race seat that fits a 4T out of the box, that would be even better.

You could try getting the taller seat pin at the back, and then putting some spacers under the hinge in the front. However that would mean the seat was only supported at those two points, so you might need to jury-rig some rubber pads or something halfway back.

I don't think it's impossible, but it might be a PITA.

Seems like it would be more straight forward to have your current seat with the correct pan recovered. Then you get any shape and any color or colors you want  .

These guys do a great job according to reports I've heard. You could send them a picture and a seat/seat pan.
