New to board

Post by blackshirts »

Hey everyone - new to board, and thought i would say hello. I have an '09 Stella 2 stroke that is only a month old with 250 mile on it. I have had some minor issues - oil leak (which was explained and corrected by my dealer), starting issues (again, explained and corrected) and now I have headlight issues (which my dealer assures me that he can fix tomorrow). If I didn't love this little black scooter so much I would be frustrated with the initial issues. I am confident that they will be corrected and that I will have many years of riding. Again, just wanted to say Hello, and that I may have a question from time to time - If that is ok..[/b]

Welcome.... I've read a lot of threads about Stellas and their quirks. That's why I went with the 170I. I like it and all but I wish I would've went with the Stella. They are solid once all the "bugs" have been worked out so I hear and I'll be getting me one soon...

I've always thought black looked so slick.

Curious, I just got my 09 about a month ago too, and my electric start doesn't seem to want to work anymore. Not a big deal, but I feel like I should get it fixed since I've got a warranty, just a pain to get there. What was the issue/fix on yours?

my electric start died 3 months after i bought my 09. I thought, well, if that's all the electric hassle I'll have, i won't complain. But then it started dying, and so I figured, heck, it's under warranty. it ended up being the starter relay and the main fuse. i bought a new battery, plug and plug cap, but everything else (labor and other parts) was all under warranty.

did one lead to the other? Beats me....but several months later, all the electrics are running fine. If it's under warranty, heck, have it checked out.

and blackshirts' black stella with the chrome body parts? damn that looks sharp!!!!

Welcome blackshirts! From what I'm gathering owning a Stella leads to learning to work on a Stella. Hate to hijack this thread but my '09 starter died as well. TamTam thanks for that relay diagnosis. I'm going to check that out.

Looks like there should be a "kick start only" Stella club.

My electric starter is working fine.. After the oil leak there was an issue with it starting at all. My dealer worked on it and said that the stater was damaged due to the shipping varnish. (that oil looking crap on the front hub). Took it out for a great 40+ mile ride tonight - I live in central Oregon - what a great ride! Thanks for all the responses, great to talk w/ people who ride / own a Stella, I am the only one in the valley out here!
