Stella 200

Does anyone have any info on the Stella 200 (LML Star 200i) ?
Will we be getting any shipped to the USA soon?

From what I understand, there are no plans at this time.

From what I have read on the LML UK Forum the Star 200 really isn't that much Faster than the Star 150 and the Engine wont swap into the body of the 150's sadly.
They say it gets to speed quicker but the top speed is about the same.

I wonder if the 200 has the same gear ratios as a PX200 or not... But yeah similar top speed is to be expected, P bikes were not designed with high speed aerodynamics in mind... There is a point where the wind drag just becomes too much for the little engine.

The 2T and 4T bikes have different gear ratios. I've not done the work to see if it's a clutch tooth difference or different gears.
If You have the time to play with the scooterhelp calculator I'd love to know if that's the change.

For 2T gearing I can get pretty close using:
A 21/68 primary drive gear combination
A late PX150EFL standard gearbox
A 3.50 x 10 rear tire size

Clutches are the same from what I understand. Must be the gears!

Don't hold your breath on this one. I've inquired about it and the response was less than enthusiastic.
A metal-bodied, classic Vespa-styled auto seems to be what most first-time scooter buyers are looking for. So my guess is that maybe this model falls short of expectations or just isn't right for some other reason.
LML had a 4T Star (sold primarily in N. Africa) a few years before the one we now know as the Stella/Star 4T debuted. Performance of that scooter was by all reports, pretty bad, which is one reason it took a while to develop the current Stella 4T. It's possible that this Star Light is being built for other markets (India, Asia) where it can be sold cheaply and where performance demands may not be as high as ours.
That's all a guess, though. Either way, for whatever reason, I don't think we'll be seeing this model here for at least a few years.

Phil hinted at the PK automatika/Star Light when he came to Richmond, of course he could have been messing with me
The original PK did indeed receive a lot of flak, mostly because of the nightmare that was the automatic transmission used in it. The Star Light will use a whole new transmission so we shall see.

Well… there might be something in the works.
What I'd like to see: Body and some components from LML, engine and transmission from PGO.
(Actually, IIRC, there was some mumblings when this debuted at EICMA that it might have PGO innards already…)
The other consideration would be cost. How much of a premium could this go for? It'd have to sell for less than an LX, which shouldn't be too hard, but more than a Buddy 125. More than a 170? Hmm…

The clutches for the 125 and 150 4T's are the same as the 2T's but the 200 4T has a different 8 spring clutch set up.
Some more details about the 200i were added to the LML italia website recently but only the italian version of the site.

Looks interesting but also looks like there is a hell of a lot of stuff that could and probably will go wrong.

It's always perplexed me why one of the big boys like genuine or kymco can't seem to release a scooter that looks like a vbb or sprint and has the twist and go insides of the buddy...
I mean, THAT'S what people want. Am I crazy here? I know there have been some half ass attempts that either are mechanically crappy or aesthetically not quite there (kymco like comes to mind), I can't see why the market hasn't provided an auto twist and go buddy inside, with vintage styled plastic outside. It's not that I want one, it just seems like there
s a market void that's been there for about since the p series.

I have seen pictures of this before, It's amazing to me why I haven't seen more around?
How is it hardware wise? If it's as dependable as the buddy and in the general vicinity of the buddy pricewise, I can't imagine why it's not more prevalent...

I've seen one and even sat on one in real-time. There is no reason WHY this thing would sell. The $5 set of tupperware knock-offs from that I bought from Ikea had better quality control. And, less gaps and creaking

The LaVita was my first scooter. It ran great the first summer I had it but then spent the second half of the second summer in the shop. Speedo issues, EFI issues, and finally the exhaust decided to fall off! All this still under warrenty..... except it took months to get any parts!! Traded in for my Stella and even with its 'quirks' it is much much more solid and put together than the LaVIta

this is slightly off the OP's question..
But here's my Stella 200
The short version of the story is..
Chino blew up 2 stock motors on this 09 due to the faulty oil check valve issues.. Then he sold the bike to Myke.
Myke is a scooter nut and has many bikes, motors, ALOT of stuff.
So he took a P200 motor to the motor guy and he tore into it..
New seals gaskets, shift cross, etc. he said its good for another 10K miles
So Myke gets the motor back then we yanked the 150 Stella engine out, and bolted the p200 in its place!
Everthing is wired up and works great. No electric start though..
oh well..
Then I traded him my 2010 4t for this.
And he's gifting his girlfriend the 4t.
This 200 powered 09 Stella is just a pleasure to ride.
Nice and smooth and the fastest scooter Ive ever rode so for by far.

thanks.. I haven't had it on the highway yet. just around the city/burbs..
i did get into.4th gear now and then.. but not yet past 45 mph.
plus I worked on it all day yesterday to make it mine.. including my always got to have a LED tailight... cleaning..polishing etc.. tweaking .. its going great so far..

yeah.. thanks.Pete.. you know, Chino had the motor replaced under warranty once..
But the check valve problem was also in the new.motor.. but at that time... we never knew about it... just kept driving it and it smoked like crazy after sitting and he just kept riding it. then it seized up hard.
But now.. reborn with a pre-owned heart transplant..
I'm thinking of Modding the 226 header to fit the 200's exhaust port.
I'd like to just sell the 150 - 226 and buy the proper 200 H -Bomb..
