Rims dipped in chrome
Has anyone ever had their factory rims dipped in chrome for their Stella? If so, post a picture please. When I turned 16 a long time ago, I had my first cars rims dipped in chrome. The rims looked great and made the car stand out. Just wandering what it would look like on a Stella and could you keep them clean?

I had this done on an older Cozy sidecar when I was restoring it and I thought it looked great. I did not actually have the parts chromed though, as this is very expensive and there are not many chrome shops left anymore. I had them powdercoated with a "chrome" coating and clearcoat. Looked great and very durable. Powdercoating can also be done in many other colors if the "chrome" look is not your favorite.

10" chrome rims are readily available from many retailers. Depending on where you go, it's about $100 for a set.

They're pretty similar to the stock grips for later PXs, eoo.JohnKiniston wrote:I believe those are the new stock grips.vwgrl1999 wrote: Hey, I like those grips! Where'd you get them, if you don't mind my asking? (sorry for the thread jack.)

The stock grips on my '12 4t are horrible! Gummy doesn't even begin to describe it. I've only had the scoot since April and the grips are already sticky and sun faded in the extreme. I'm going to live w/them for the rest of the riding season here and replace them over the winter.Tack One. wrote:yah, the US grips seem to be different I think. I'm in canada so that might be the reason for it. The US ones looked gummier and came in a few other colours. they are in fact the stock grips that came with it though.

When i picked up mine, the 2-tone stellas all had the nice grips while the solid stellas had the crappy ones.Tack One. wrote:weird, two of you have 12 4t's and got different grips. I've seen the photos of the gummy brown ones and they look pretty shitty.
no clue why they'd be different on models from the same season.

Guess the 2 tones got a little bit of dressing up. My dealer didn't have any 2 tones in stock. Anybody know off hand what diameter you need for replacement grips on a Stella?Maximus53 wrote:When i picked up mine, the 2-tone stellas all had the nice grips while the solid stellas had the crappy ones.Tack One. wrote:weird, two of you have 12 4t's and got different grips. I just installed these. Sorry, I don't know the diameter.

I have the black ones with polished lips. They also do red with a polished lip. Looks classy, and the aluminum rim makes it easier to do tire changes.
