Refitting the pipe

Some of you may have heard how I got a crack in my sito+ on the way to Amerivespa.
When I got to the rally I purchased a new sito+ and had it installed but I had no time to let the high-temp silicone gasket cure overnight, as a result it has developed a small leak between engine and header.

Should I just try to cover this leak by putting a ring of high-temp gasket maker around the junction or should I drop the pipe, clean it, and reapply the gasket maker to the inside of the header before attaching it back to the engine?

IMO I recommend the pipe drop, clean and reseal route.

And, of course, allow the overnight set up before operating.

Good luck,

Rob

There a gap around the exhaust itself where it clamps to the cylinder stub?

I've never used anything on my bike, I just bolt up the exhaust and make sure the clamp is tight, I've never had any leaks yet.

Even with a 226 Pipe I've not seen any gaskets or goo used.
