[4T] What's your top speed in each gear?

Post by JohnKiniston »

These are the speeds reported by my Speedometer, Not GPS verified. My friend says I'm not getting 58 out of her, more like 53.

1st, 20-25
2nd 40
3rd 50
4th 58

I'm a big guy and my bike's not had an easy life, Curious as to how it stacks up with others 4T bikes.

I got my Speedometer cable swapped last Friday and for the first time since my first Stella (Which would be 2 Stella's ago) I know how fast I'm going.

what is this 4T thing you speak of? .

I've never paid attention to 1st or 2nd on friends 4t's but 56 MPH in 4th is about right, I guess 48 or so in 3rd.
Speed is only a matter of money...How fast do you want to go?

That is about what i get as a top speed 55-58 on speedo which is more like 52-53 in reality.

I have never pushed 2nd or 3rd that high, usually shift into 3rd at ~30 and 4th @ ~40

I haven't pushed 1st gear very fast, yet. Hell, I can't remember when I actually looked at the speedometer in 1st gear but:

1st: <15
2nd: ~30
3rd: 40
4th: Just above 60 on a very gentle (im talking no more than 1 degree) downhill slope

FWIW, I'm 6'4", 240#

I must really be babying mine, then. This is usually my shift points.

1st: 5-10 mph
2nd: 10-15 mph
3rd: 15-30 mph
4th: 25-60 mph indicated on speedo.

I'd really like to GPS my scooter, but don't have a mount yet. I know on a 50 mph road, I can easily keep up with traffic with my speedo displaying in the 50-55 range.
