Its happened three times tonight riding around my 'hood..stop at a corner and get a little rear spin on take off...IN SECOND GEAR? Pull into driveway in first and spin in the curb gutter....i know i have new dunlop maxi life tire @ 25 Psi and my streets are in bad need of repair ( the base is gone and the pavement is crackled) but it still surprising how torguey the 4t is.....or is it just me? Because i couldn't get my big cruiser to do anything like that unless i put a great deal of effort into it and pushed it ( of course i kept giving up before it would actually break loose because the engine sounded like it straining) but this is different, with my wieght over it slipped without effort....becuase its soo light? Then this will require some new riding techniques.

Don't forget that new tires need to be scrubbed in. Usually takes about 100 miles or so until you get max grip

Well, i did just break 80 miles on it...and no sign of oil leaks.
Hell, the tires still have those little manufacturer nubs on the area of the contact patch!

Naaahhhh .... Sounds like your clutch is slipping. Is your cable adjusted correcty?

Slipping on letting the clutch out? I'm thinking it more letting it out to fast and it's grabbing quicker than i expect.

Wheelspin on a second gear start? Much more likely clutch slippage on a second gear start.

Stellas have most of the weight on the rear wheel and will wheelie before they spin unless they are on a very slippery road.

I don't know that I'd wait that long. 150cc Stellas can't do burnouts or wheel spins in 2nd gear, it's more likely that your clutch is slipping.

If your cable is too tight and your clutch not totally engaging, you can put some wear on it quickly. If your cable is adjusted correctly, then there's a more serious issue.

"It" doesn't decide to wheelie. That is the result of clutch work...in other words the rider causes the wheelie...not the scooter unless there is a clutch problem where the plates are sticking which would more likley cause a stall

Remember, I'm scootering from a cruiser background, my previous ride was a 96 honda shadow 1100 ace i saved from the boneyard. The stella still has that new smell..
EVERYTHING with it feels different...breaking, shifting, levers (friction zones are all wrong), turning... guess that's the learning curve.

Last Christmas I loaded the back rack of my Stella with a box of beverages... And I had a couple of good wheelies on take-off.

Have never had the rear wheel peel-out ever, though.

The roads through here look like a cracked lake bed or alligators back...way too easy to peel and slide.
