Weld on cowl peg failed. Solution?

Post by Anachronism »

The weld on the rear cowl peg on my engine side cowl failed, so my cowl doesn't stay in place.

I don't have a welder, so I tried good ol JB-weld on both sides of the failed joint- and it pulled right out.

Any other suggestions before I got to the hassle of finding somebody with a welder? The only thing I can think of is pulling out the blowtorch and solder to see if I can sweat it together.
Valves are for wussies.

Just carry it into a body shop and have them mig weld it......minimal heat migration will occur.

If you try to sweat it, all you'll do is burn all the paint out of the corner and it'll fail again.

Yep, take a photo of you holding it in place with the right orientation/angle so they can reference. [/quote]

Or take both of them into the body shop and have them match the placement..
Good luck
