Stella 4T exhaust, lets discuss

The 4T is so quiet ( I don't like obnoxious loud) it needs something, and besides, that cat HAS to go. I have installed 2. Let's get some feedback on what is out there.

http://www.scooterworks.com/sito-plus-e ... peKYic7AfM

I installed one of these on a friends 4T. Pro: Cheap and easy, only mod was a 1 size larger main in the stock carb. Con: little louder and a small performance upgrade. I think the carb is holding it back, but for the money you can't beat it. No cat and it runs better and so far has NOT cracked.

http://www.scooterworks.com/pinasco-per ... peK9Cc7AfM

One of these came in installed with the carb kit , too. Pro: the pipe DEF. made better power, a improvement of 5-6 MPH easy. Con: costly , but it works.... as a side note, that carb kit is crap, we need something that works, myself as well as others could NOT get it to stop fouling plugs down low.

http://www.scooterworks.com/giannelli-e ... peLpic7AfM

Haven't tried, but MOST interesting, an expansion chamber on a 4T huh? Hey, the price is right and it might work, LOL, I think the exit pipe is too small, but if anyone tries it let us know.

http://www.sip-scootershop.com/en/produ ... +_19000140

REALLY want to try one of these. I think this might be the ticket.

Anything else to add please do.

The GPR -

Stainless, road legal, sounds nice and gives a dyno proven power increase.

Pinasco's carb kit has the wrong throttle slide. The #30 slide creates too much low-throttle vacuum. Try swapping it out with a #40 PHBG slide from some place like Treatland.

I tried one of the Polinis on a 2010...

I didn't do any performance tests but it did nothing to make it louder.
Still quiet but a different warble at best.

I plan on getting one of those Giannelli pipes in the spring and will definitely share my experience.

Looks/sounds nice. Tipper, did you install one of these? Any other modifications you needed to make? Carb, etc?

They don't make one for the 200 4t so I haven't been able to fit one. You will definitely need to up jet a couple of points though.

Do they still make the sito plus? I cant seem to find it anywhere in stock.

Sito have gone bust so once they're gone they're gone and I don't think their were huge amounts of the 4t version out there in the first place.

So I am considering a pinasco for my stella 4T. (3k miles)

I don't personally care about power max speed, etc. My current stock exhaust is cracking and i need a quality replacement.

Do I need to upgrade the main jet? if so what size should I be upgrading to for the free flowing exhaust? I dont intend to upgrade the carb or air filter to anything but whats stock.

Any issues with fitment or quality that I should be aware of?

Could really use some help before I pull the trigger.

Thanks in advance.

Bit the bullet and got the Pinasco. Talking to scooterworks they are saying I only need one size larger on the main jet if I'm not upgrading the carb. (Size 92)

Scooterworks has it for some crazy value on their website (430 bucks) but if you go to ebay, they (scooterworks) are selling it for $269. Dont know how that works but I'm not going to complain. Pretty much takes the cons noted above for this exhaust out of the conversation.

Looks like still one left on Ebay if anyone wants to scoop it up.

Here's all the Polini Stuff http://scooterpartsco.com/index.php?mai ... ath=85_505 I've been thinking about one of the stellas but i might wait for the automatic one. Someone told me that GPR stuff that is really cheap on ebay is from China and they just sell it in Italy like the prima stuff that scooterworks sells is really chinese junk but they make it sound like it's from italy.

Posted: Thu Dec 12, 2013 4:10 pm

I can't find any evidence that the GPR pipes are made in China.

Lots of Italian people, talking Italian in factories that look like they are in Italy though.

Yeah, it definitely looked like Italy to me....maybe they have them built in China, I don't know, but the quality looks pretty good from what I could see.... and I definitely haven't heard any others that sound that good!!!!!

Well, I took the leap and ordered the GPR exhaust, partially funded as a Christmas present. I will post more when it arrives, and takes photos.
Unfortunately, as I live in upstate NY, it will not be installed until the spring.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/LML-STAR-125-ST ... OC:US:3160

And as for the origin, the auction states: HAND MADE PRODUCT MADE IN ITALY

Thanks,happy Christmas.

i'm thinking with that GPR... one could pick out any nice tailpipe chrome or make one any style... bullet, fishtail, etc.. and get the right diameter and just clamp it on to that shorty that comes with the pipe.. the possibilities are mucho..
if I ever get my mits on another 4t.. i'm going with the GPR and adding a custom tail pipe...

Well, I received the GPR exhaust system. It sure looks smart, and it cam in these neato bags:

The tag on the exhaust can has a serial number, and my name as the customer. All of the parts fit together nicely.

Very nice. We know that youll document the install for us and video it running...
Will you re-jet, Slotrod?

by SockyTX
Slotrod- ya gotta keep us posted, that set looks sick. The only performance mod I've considered for Stella is exhaust. Do tell if it's a simple as it looks or if other measures are required and how you tweaked the set up(jetting or what evs)

Posted: Fri Jan 10, 2014 6:05 pm
by slotrod65
I will certainly document. GPR has an installation video on their website:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xx8S-iPrbtk

I have test fit everything, and as long as it mates to the exhaust flange on the Stella, it should be relatively painless. (Now I have jinxed myself.)

As far as plugs and jetting, that is sort of trail and error, no? I have no qualms about doing it, but I sure wish I wasn't the guinea pig!

Anything new to report on the GPR exhaust?

It is sounding like my welded-together stock exhaust has started to spring another leak and I need to make some decisions soon.

I'd hate just just buy another crappy stock one...

(and I seem to be the odd one out who actually wants a very quiet scooter)

Pull your muffler off (again).. run it to the corner auto body shop and have it welded up again.... cheapest option...
then go and get that bad ass GPR.....
keep your re-welded stock as a spare for when the GPR starts to rot away.
good luck

Here's the first photo of the Tasso exhuast for the 125/150, its a simple straight through design and it sounds great.

Image

He is going to make a few finishing touches (welding on some studs to bolt the stone guard to and beefing up the swing arm bracket a bit. Its a steal at £95 ($155).

I just bought one. $237USD shipped, which isn't quite a steal but still less than other options.

It was a roll of the dice for me. I was really hoping a Sito would magically appear before me but no luck.

I don't give a monkey's butt about sound. I only care about performance. I'm not going to dyno to ($$$) but will see for myself how it does. I'll probably up the jetting, maybe try a couple to see what happens.

Yeah, the install is getting closer. If the weather stays in the mod 40's this week like it is supposed to, I will install the battery and wake the Stella up from her winter's nap. Then I have to do my first service, and then comes the exhaust install.

Does anyone have any thoughts about the need for rejetting??? Is pulling the plug the best way to tell, like a 2 stroke?

Happened to look at ScooterWorks, saw this blog entry. They're working on a prototype pipe, apparently. I like the look of it:

Here's the blog post that mentions it.

I also like how they put an OG Stella hub up front on this 4T. That's on my list for my bike when I get it.

Green Machine is beauty..

Wondering if any of these 4T exhausts will fit the Automatic? My guess is probably not, but hopefully Scootwerks will properly note in their product descriptions

That old style front hub intrigues me. I am not a fan of the way the star hub looks. Does anyone have a clue what would be involved in adding this style front hub to a Stella?
