Hey everyone,

So I bought my salvaged title 2010 4T and am trying to do my first paper oil filter change. I have studied the service manual, know it is on the left side, but am still confused. Where the heck is that 4-bolt filter cover I need to remove?

Maybe some things have been changed around in my scooter's guts because it was in a wreck and rebuilt, or maybe I'm just spatially impaired, or maybe both. Here are some photos. Can anyone please describe on the photo where it is and what else I might need to remove to get to access?

Jack up the rear of the bike and remove the five M8 x 1.25 nuts that hold the wheel to the that hold the. rim/tire to the brake drum. The oil filter housing is on the backside of the engine case, and is obscured by the tire. I'll see if I can find a video.

BTW, do you have a copy of the service manual for reference?

Okay, great. So just remove the rear tire and it will be right behind it? A video if you have one would be super. Thanks!

It's a 500-mile service and the wheel is already removed, but it does show the oil and filter change process.

Im mentally prepping to do my first oil change on my 4t (3rd service) myself.
Any recommendations for supplies for this? source for filter and oil?

not sure where to get the paper gasket. Mine looked OK at the time of service (say the shop guys).

Hiflo HF167 is a replacement for the OEM Lubroil filter

For oil, any good 15w-40 HDEO (Diesel engine oil) will work, much more economical than motorcycle oil.

For the gasket, I've done 3 oil changes so far and the gasket is still good, but I bought some from AF1, they're the only place that seems to stock them.

I don't know if it is needed but one thing I do on many bikes during oil changes is to make a "ramp" out of foil to chanel the oil to the collection pan and keep oil off frames, stands the ground etc.
