Cycle New is tweeting that the classic Honda Postie bike is coming to the USA. It's not in the EPA database yet, but I'm pretty sure its the same motor that has been certified. Here's a pic:

I love it! It would be a great utility bike for getting around town and shopping. I'd buy one if the price were right.

$4100 plus tax, title, plate and whatever fees your local Honda dealer piles on. At my local dealer, I'd expect to pay $5500-$6000 out the door.

Nice bike? Sure. $5500 worth of nice? Not for this fellow!

Yikes! Yeah, no thanks. I'll go on Craigslist and find a nice used Trail 110 instead. Plenty of engine hop-up parts available to make it viable in SF.

The Honda Trail is retro cool and will be indestructable, but my budget says I should settle for a $1999 Kymco K-Pipe (and swap in a Zong 190cc mill).

Then there is the question - which is more reliable? A Honda or a "Zong"?

No contest there.
-The K-Pipe/Zongshen is a compromise in reliability...and styling.

There is a nice long test of the Trail 125 on cycleworld.com In fact, a photo of the postie was on the cover of the hard copy I bought at the airport.

CSC is now offering an electric clone of the Super Cub called the Monterrey, for 1999 USD. It's no Honda, and it doesn't make 8hp, but e-scoot prices have really been dropping.
