Bike has high RPM in idle.

Post by AstroG93 »

Howdy,

My G400C was admittedly left in the (heavy) rain without a cover for a couple nights not long after its 5k mile service. I noticed the idle rpm is twice the usual at about 4k. It also makes a stuttering start as if the battery is perhaps weak.

I have since moved it into my garage. Any idea where to begin looking to resolve?

Cheers!

I was going to say stuck float but the G400C has EFI, lol.
Disconnect wiring from the sensors (one by one) and spray with contact cleaner. Dry them out first if there is any moisture trapped in the connector. My 2 cents.

Right on. Question: Which sensor? Oxygen, or? Total noob here as far as fixing shit myself. But, I’m determined to not go through my shop this time around.

I have no personal experience with the G400C. My scoot has a carb. i worked on my cars some.
According toclubtechnical.com
Typical sensors used in the electronic fuel injection (EFI) system:
Exhaust gas or oxygen sensor
Engine temperature sensor.
Air flow sensor
Air inlet temperature sensor
Throttle position sensor
Manifold pressure sensor
Camshaft position sensor
Knock sensor

I don't know specifically where the sensors are, but you get the general idea.
