Stall spring?

Does anyone know a good source for stall springs? Djelliot told me he put a shorter one in which increased his top speed. Is this the spring behind the clutch bell?

Unfortunately I'm not sure what he's referring to as a "Stall Spring". It's a bit of a personal irritant that there's so many terms out there for two components of the clutch. I'm guessing that he meant the Contra spring and not the clutch shoe springs (or clutch springs).

As much as I hate to say it, I wouldn't go with Scooterworks, because their "kits" offer a weird range of parts that just adds to the confusion. For example, I got a "Rattler 110 2000" Contra Spring with my "Stage 1" kit last year. Also, the "GY6" Clutch springs don't fit in the GY6 performance clutch that comes in the kit.

I can't speak from experience, but "Autotech355" on ebay has always been very responsive and forthright to every request that I've asked of him. He offers seemingly fair prices and considering that it's coming from Taiwan, the shipping is sorta reasonable (no idea on that one, as the price isn't listed on the boxes). If you go that route, I'd suggest buying a range of parts and getting the shipping costs combined.

As far as in the UK (with the exception of Scooter-Assasins, which I understand you have a bad taste for) I'm just not familiar with distributors over there.

I installed an NCY 1500 rpm stiffer stall spring. I lost top speed. Went back to the stock spring. I do however like the stiffer 2000 rpm clutch springs that I installed. They work well. No need to buy an aftermarket clutch either, I tried already. The stock clutch is fine with the stronger springs.

I was going to change my spring, but after some emails from Autotech on ebay he informed me that the stock PGO spring is of good quality and that replacing it with an aftermarket spring would cause a loss in top speed. Good advice I thought as there was an opportunity for a sale. Have the clutch springs made any difference?

With the 2,000 rpm clutch springs, it "hits" harder when it enagages, which is what I wanted, although the reason behind doing this was to be able to do wheelies and I still can not get the front end up. I do like the harder takeoff though, so yes I would recommend the stiffer clutch springs.
