Buddy 125 vs. Blur 220i seat height

Post by paulmiller20 »

Unfortunately the Genuine website doesn't include seat height in their model specs. For anyone who has experience with both I would appreciate a comment. I have a daughter who is vertically challenged but is just comfortable on my Buddy 125. I am curious if the seat height on the new Blur is similar or would pose a challenge for her.

I believe it's the same as the first gen Blur at 29". There is some room to cut it shave it down some. It felt like the same height as the original when I rode it, but I don't have any official numbers.

Part of what makes the Blur handle so great is that it's center of gravity is low, which means balancing on tip toes or on one foot it is effortless, once you're used to it. The best thing to do is have her go with you and sit on it.

With the Blur, note that the center channel between the legshield and the seat is WAY higher than most scooters. I'd think that'd be a bigger challenge for a shorter person than the seat height, I'm 5/11 with a 31" inseam and it's almost easier for me to throw a leg over the back (and snag a shoelace on the accessory rack, i gotta take that thing off) than through the channel, especially if I don't want boot smudges all over the gas tank.

Most scooters have a wide-open leg area that makes it easier to mount and dismount (like a girl's bike, some [many] would say, ha)

older thread but just want to chime in about seat height. could help someone out

when recently looking at all kinds of scooters with a short person (5'1) it wasn't just height that played a role, but the width and shape of the seat. some scooters with a lower seat height on paper actually presented more of a challenge for the shorter rider to reach the ground, as the seat was wider or cut in a way which made the actual inseam of the rider less then it was. the further apart the thighs had to be to go over and around the seat, the more it reduced the ability for the feet to touch the ground. so some scooters with 29in seat heights became as challenging to "fit" as those with seat heights a couple inches higher, if not more so in some cases

i guess this is why they say to go sit on bikes, not just trust what it says on paper. it could be somewhat misleading

Yes, the seat on my new Blur tapers dramatically towards the front. I agree with Illnoise that the bigger problem might be the high central tank. I love having the weight low and in the middle of the scoot, but it's a minor pain to carefully hike your leg over the tank every time you want on or off. It does make me feel like a big old biker though, just smarter
