SS220i for a 60 mile commute...
I have a 30 mile commute via highway (2 lanes each side, 65mph), or 35 miles through back roads (55mph) and town (45/35), each way.
Would you feel comfortable commuting this far on the SS220i?

With a windshield (to take the wind off the chest at 65 mph and reduce fatigue) and some sort of seat modification/cushion (the seat is the Blur's weak point) then yes, unless traffic on the 65mph highway averages a good deal over that, then it'd be a maybe.

Absolutely
Absolutely. I commuted that far on my Blur 150! With the 220i you can go anywhere that a regular motorcycle can go. You could do a cross country trip if you really wanted to (some people have). I am really enjoting my 220i.

I would think that the Blur would be perfect for that commute. It's still small enough to be useful around town and great in traffic, but it's got the weight and power to be fairly good on the superhighway. You'll not be passing much (at least in Detroit), but you will be keeping up with a lot of the traffic.
And by windshield, he meant "decent" windshield. While the accessory windshield is OK for keeping wind off your chest, it takes that wind and punches you in the helmet with it, creating a Saturn V at takeoff sound in your ears (thanks, Howard Leight earplugs). I'd like to find a taller and wider windshield for the upcoming winter, and you might find that helpful in your highway commute.
I have an ebay top box on mine and that works out well. I remove it when I'm not commuting... it's very high in the air on the back of the Blur.
Edit 'cause I can't type

i have a 30 mile commute one way. i use a combination of back roads -25-55mph and a smal stretch of interstate. the 150 handles like a champ.
i have the stock windshield, and i have a shad 40 on the back. it's big but it hols my laptop and lunch and room to spare. i can also take it off the bike if i need to and carry it like a big round egg suitcase...

The Blur won't have a problem, but you might. I just finished (a couple of hours ago) a 150 mile jaunt with a couple of other scooterists and my butt is really hurting. I'm waiting for the Aleve to kick in as we speak.
My SS cruises at 65 indicated with no problem, and that's without a windscreen, but it's the seat that might slow you down.
I'm going to be looking at some strap-on gel pads this coming week.

It's the Alaska Leather "Small Buttpad Deluxe". Under $50 delivered (with DEADSHEEP discount phrase).
I really need to write up the sum total of my accessories to date...
