Definitive '06 BDU Conversion?

I just finished racking up 495.6 BDUs with a GPS monitoring actual distance traveled. The GPS read 293.4 miles. That makes a BDU equivalent to .589 of a mile, pretty much confirming what others have found.
Interesting that it isn't .62 of a mile, which would make BDUs actually kilometers. They truly do appear to be unique to our little universe.

Well not quite kilometers, but pretty close. Close enough that most people wouldn't complain about the discrepancy if it was supposed to be kilometers.

I think they just took the same ol speedo unit and just put a different silkscreen on the front so the speedo had MPH as the primary.

That's about what I've figured, too. I'm sure they just customized the speedo face on KM speedos.
