Pulled into a spot at the local community college for a computer class I'm taking, looked down and saw that I had hit 3,000.0 BDUs exactly! I've had Renton (named after my favorite character in Trainspotting) for almost exactly a year. Pretty good I think.
No problems, but I do have to kick start him if I neglect him for a week or so and take him on short trips. I pretty much leave him on a battery tender if I know I'm not going to ride for a day or two.
Everytime I think about getting something with more ccs I go out and realize how much fun the Blur is. I've been riding a Suzuki GS550L (1981), but keep going back to the Blur for around-town stuff. I am constantly amazed at how quick the thing is and how nimble it is. I think about how I could put together enough to buy a Burgman or maybe a Vespa GTS, but the equation always involves selling the Blur and I just can't bear the thought of it.
Anyway, looking forward to another year of Blur riding. I think I can manage to put a few more than 3,000 miles on it this next year. I just passed 400 posts too. I'll try to keep up the 1/7.5 ratio.
A milestone (or BlurDistanceUnitstone)

You know, mileage is a funny thing and can work both ways. The other day I was dealing with a fellow who thought he might like to trade his '04 Rebel for something like the Blur. After going through all the standard disclosures (maintenance record, scratches, etc.) I informed him that I had put about 3300 miles (5500 BDU) on the scoot in the past year.
The other guy immediately got all huffy, saying that 3K miles in a year was way, way too much riding. I could see that he was angling for a bargaining advantage, so I asked how many miles he had on the Rebel (remember, it's only 5 model years old).
He said ALMOST 450 miles, and that he was the SECOND OWNER.
Told him that I bought the Blur to ride, and that if I needed a geranium planter, I'd go to Home Depot.
450 miles in 4 to 5 years with 2 owners? I'm willing to bet that the oil was never even changed, first service never performed, etc. Probably hasn't even seated the rings.
I love my Blur, but I'll admit to having a wandering eye. Going to see an '86 Rebel Limited Edition this weekend, but I'm really conflicted about it.
Congrats on your BDUstone. They do just keep getting better and better, don't they.

Wow... That guy's not right in the head. These aren't trophies! they're meant to be ridden.
I thought I was taking it easy on mine. It's only got 4400 on it and I've only put 3300 since I bought it used last September. I just got a new (old) truck that I've been driving around this week, mainly because of a nasty cold and some errands that need to be run... and the rainstorms this week as well, but I've been itching to ride. I get plain miserable if I don't ride often. I'll probably end up blowing through a couple hundred miles this weekend.
But 450 miles in 5 years!?! I get more distance out of my lawn chairs! That should qualify as abuse or neglect...
Congrats on the BStone, KC! 3k's a good even number!

I feel like I ride the Blur just about everywhere, and I do. I ride it much more than I drive my old BMW or (when weather and duties dictate) take my wife's exploerer. I'll ride when it's 20 degrees out.
Thing is, I'm fortunate to live in an area where I can do just about everything I need to do (including work) in a two or three mile radius. This despite the fact I do live in the suburbs.
I will be putting more miles on the Blur, this year. My office moved from 1 to 4 miles away and I'm taking computer classes at a community college that is 10 miles away.
Anyway, it is amazing what you can do with a scooter. You would think a motorcycle would be just as versitile, but somehow it isn't. I'll ditch the motorcycle for the scooter ever time unless I've got highway riding planned.

Around town, the scooter would win hands down. Don't get me wrong, I want a cruiser type motorcycle so my wife and I can go on longer scenic rides through the gorgeous Virginia Countryside, but with the readily available storage on the Blur and the ease of use and parking around town... I couldn't imagine being anything more than a weekend cruiser guy, hehe.
