Or tyres as we spell them in the U.K.
Anyhow, I was reading a few previous posts regarding tyre renewal and some members were looking for the Maxxis that comes standard as new. When I replace my tyres pretty soon, I would definately not use Maxxis again as they do not inspire confidence in the wet as I was experiencing today. When you lean the scoot into a corner the rear has a tendancy to squirm as if on ice, pretty hairy I can tell you. When riding in warm dry conditions I find these tyres great. My next choice will either be Bridgstones or Avons.
Tires again.

My Blur is nowhere near ready for tyres yet - but I did just replace the rear tire on my Burgman with the OEM Bridgestone Hoop.
FWIW there is an Avon replacement available for the Burgman but many people in the BurgmanUSA BB have complained about them because they experienced much lower mileage before they wore out.

I don't really need tires, the Stock Maxxis are surprisingly durable and still hold a corner well, but I do have a set of unused black rims that I'm just itching to get on my Blur. I told myself that I'd wait until the stock tires wore out, but I'm getting impatient at 6500 Blur Miles.
So I've been researching for the best tires to go onto the Blur. I'm looking at enlarging to a 140 rear and 130 front (by all accounts, I hear there's no fitment issues). I'm just researching which tires offer the best grip to wear ratio (with a healthy consideration for rain-riding).
I'll offer up some conclusions (2nd hand of course) once I've taken in more opinions.

I have indeed, but I don't ride hard at all in the rain. I take corners like an old man when the road's wet. The Maxxis are manageable, but I'm positive I could find better grip.Irishrover wrote:LMC, have you rode the Maxxis in the wet?

The Blur is my daily commuter and this spring has to be one of the wettest on record in this area!! I've ridden from leftover puddles to torrential downpours, where I was throwing a wake
, havent had any surprises. My TGB has stock 12" Maxxis with >6k miles and plenty of life left - they have seen plenty of wet roads too.
My Burgman Hoop rear was down to the wear bars at 12.5K, the front is still going strong. Completely different riding style and loading - usually 2up - but I was happy enough with them to get a second one. No noticable difference in the wet from them either.
