cvt 'chatter'
just a quick question:
does your cvt make chattering clicks when at idle?
just changed engine oil and gear oil, so both are at proper levels ... but i occasionally hear a few soft clicks coming from the unit (just below air filter) when at idle and never noticed hearing that until recently. i do have an appointment next week at cincinnati's famous metro scooter to have the cvt checked to see if it needs adjustment.
so - what are your thoughts and experience w/ this?
thanx,

How many miles on the current rollers? If they're worn, they're more likely to rattle around at idle. That's not uncommon to hear roller clatter. Just a guess.
A further out possibility would be if your belt has gotten stretched out (very unlikely) it could be slapping the case at idle.
I wonder if this is at all similar to what babblefish experienced... I'm not sure if I ever heard what the cause of that was, though.

Yep, that's about the life of rollers. Just have the shop take a look at it when it's in there next week. You're very likely fine

post tune up:
- new pgo rollers (jfrost2 - i'll try 'em next time - thanx)
- valve adjustment
- air filter
- spark plug
> i did my own oil + drive fluid
> cvt drivebelt still 'w/in spec by 1 mm = at about 'half life' now
work performed by:
master seth @ metro scooter / cincinnati
result:
- increased performance off the line and the whole way up to 65 bdu
- a noticable difference / feeling much smoother and stronger
- no more chatter
- a happy blurblaine!

How many miles were on the original rollers and what were their condition?
If you ever get bored and find yourself with $25 to spend and you don't know what to get, order a set of the slider weights in 12g (18x14mm size). You'll be pretty happy with the results.

just under 7,000 BDU's on 'em. one side of each showed more wear that the other side ... but we're not talking about a big difference from 1 side to the other....Lostmycage wrote:How many miles were on the original rollers and what were their condition?
