What did you pay for your Blur??

Post by lynnie_86 »

Hi everyone!

I am in the process of getting my first scooter (a Blur yay!) and I am curious to know what everyone payed for theirs? I am talking to a dealership and would like to have some figures to compare it to just for reference. I am getting a 2006 Blur special ordered since they don't have any in stock currently and am SO EXCITED!

:P

Even though I bought a buddy, I almost got a blur until I saw the 08 buds.

The out the door price would have been $2600 + tax for a 2006 blur, and 2700 for a 2007 blur.

Lynnie,
your price would be dependent on your location and dealer.
I paid 3100 and change OTD.

I paid the same as EP_scoot as we both got our Blurs from Scooterville within about a week of each other. Your avatar info says that you're here in Minneapolis, so I'm guessing you're looking over at Scooterville too?

The one thing that might make a difference is that EP and I both bought scoots off the floor at S'ville that'd been there for maybe a year or so. I bought the last '06 and the last '07 sold a couple days before. All that is to say that if they have to bring one in from Chicago, you'll probably have to pay freight. So it might cost you a little more. I tried to haggle down to the $2600/$2700 range I'd read about here, but didn't get anywhere, which I can't blame them as they probably don't really make any money on Blurs. Also be aware that you'll pay more for the gray/black '07 than you will for the gray/orange '06 Blurs. Pull the stickers off of it, and the orange looks pretty trick.

Congrats on your Blur though. You'll love it! It's just how a scooter ought to ride.

I did not even noticed you were a local !
Keep in mind the original price was $3,500 plus freight, dealer prep, tax, license, etc.

And worth every bit of that. When you compare it to the Buddy, it's amazing that it wasn't more expensive. The Buddy is a great scoot, but the Blur is just ridiculous. And best of all, it's gaining a late-bloom cult following of owners scratching their heads that Genuine didn't sell more of them.

When are you taking delivery?

My 2006 Blur came with a windshield, bicycle computer, rear rack and Givi box - I paid $1700 for it. OK, so I bought it used, but it looked like new and I picked it up at the local scooter shop where it just had a new rear tire and belt installed plus an oil change. A very good deal I think... :D

It's a bolt-on speedometer sort of thing you can attach to a bicycle to keep track of your speed, average speed, distance traveled - all that jazz. They're all of $12 at Wal Mart (blek!). It's a little sensor on the wheel and fork that every time the sensor passes the fork it counts the revolutions. Enter your wheel diameter and presto - telemetry! Might be worth $12 just to have an accurate BDU conversion! Ha ha!

Man, if that works it is kind off scary. You figure if you are buying it at Wal-Mart for $12, it probably costs about $3 to make it in some remote corner of China . . . and PGO can't figure out how to make an accurate speedometer/odometer on a $3000 scooter?

wow i think babblefish got the best deal! it would be great to find a used one...but alas, i've had no luck :(

I'd like to add I am also from EP, what a strange STRANGE coincidence. I am getting an 06 from scooterville, but since they have to order one in it is going to cost me a little bit.

I got the urge to ride after my bf got his new yamaha r6 and I'm currently only a passenger...so I can't wait to have my own wheels!

That's really funny. We're going to have to start an EP all-Blur TNR!

Something in the water?

EP all Blur TNR? People would think we are on a parade or something, ha ! But it sounds like a good idea. The TNR on Lake Harriet is a bit far for me since I don't get out of here before 1730 EVER! I still would like to check it out as well.

Yeah I imagine my appearances at TNR will be few and far between as it would be an hour just to get to the starting point. There was talk over on Modern Vespa about a west suburbs TNR. We need to resurrect that. It was a route 'round lake Minnetonka, although I bet we could find even better routes.

As for distance and speed, I just call 'em 'blur units' and 'blurometers per hour' for the odometer and speedometer readings.

TNR is short for Tuesday Night Ride. It's a come-and-go group ride that happens, well, every Tuesday night. This year it's starting over near the Mississippi River Parkway, which is a good hour from EP.

What Nathaniel said! It's also better known as a "cyclometer". BTW: it also gives the time in the normal AM/PM mode. :D

yeah, military time is a hard habit to break. In Spain we use it more than the am/pm. It is one if those things I have to actually think about in English, but sometimes I don't even notice.

I had a new 06 Blur shipped in to Tucson back in January. It was $2950+tax.

How far did you get your blur shipped and what did you have to pay?

I am curious about getting one shipped, as the closest shop (Cleveland) wants $4000 for their last blur and it's a bit more than I wanted to spend.

I might be out of luck though.

Oh, if you're asking me, I mean, I bought it from the Genuine dealer in Tucson. Only a demo was in stock, so mine came along with tjeir next shipment of Buddies from Genuine. So, on paper, I didn't pay extra fo shipping, but I noticed it still cost more than those for sale in California at the time...

Blur Mania

Post by pajeanka »

Hi, All,
My hubby just picked up a new '07 Blur in Chicago this weekend for $3,000 plus tax. We had put a deposit on it three weeks ago and were waiting to pick it up on the way back from a business trip. The sales guy mentioned that this Blur was their last one and he got offered $4,500 for it last week before my spouse got there to claim it this weekend. Thank goodness for honest businesses.
